In other horror news, Paramount has more great 80's horror gems on the way on 9/24. Watch for the last two classics in the Friday the 13th series Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Both are presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with English and French 2.0 surround and subtitle tracks, plus trailers. Also making their debuts on 9/24 are My Bloody Valentine, presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and mono, and April Fool's Day, in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and newly remixed 5.1 Dolby surround. Extras include trailers, and retail is $24.95 a pop.
Well slasher fans, time to rejoice! All these 80's classics are finally going to see the light of day on DVD, and what a wait it has been! While I am a little miffed that Paramount did not include any extras other than a trailer, I will take what I can get!

I never knew April Fools Day was shot in 2.35:1, the DVD should be night and day with its VHS counterpart. The 5.1 remaster from AFD is also a welcome edition, but it makes me wonder why Paramount never did it for MBV too.

This has to be the best DVD news for me in the last couple years. I've been waiting so long for these films to be released and now they finally will be. With The Fog, Heavenly Creatures, Last House on the Left, ROTLD, Motel Hell, and the rest of MGM's slate of DVDs, this should be one hell of a fall for horror fans!

Now lets just hope Halloween III gets announced soon by Universal.

Yo, lots of cool titles getting released this year.

Even though Paramount ain't releasing MY BLOODY VALENTINE unrated - which sucks big time!

Excellent news indeed. I've been waiting for the F13th flicks to get a date. And April Fool's Day was a big surprise to me. I didnt think that flick would see the light of DVD for quite some time. All of this good news is too much for me to absorb. First MGM makes me happy, now Paramount (which I didnt expect), who's next? The fall is shaping up to be goddamn good.

I just wish Paramount would at least put a 5.1 soundtrack on My Bloody Valentine. It isn't so bad that the Friday the 13th films are not in 5.1 because at least they are in stereo (Jason Lives sounded awesome in 2.0!), but having to hear MBV in mono sucks. :(

This is bittersweet news. It would be nice to have unrated versions on DVD, but this is Paramount after all...
My Bloody Valentine & April Fool's Day are mine on 9/24.
It's been a long wait.

Many of you may have come across this, but it seems really appropriate to this thread:

It's possible though that another print may reveal more than the standard release I guess - here's to hoping...

Well the Friday, April Fools and MBV discs have all been bumped up to 9/3. Finally a little good news from Paramount. ;)

The entire Paramount Sept. 3 horror slate is now up for pre-order at DVDEmpire.com. Each title is $16.24 each. That's not bad for Paramount titles...however, it gets better if you ACT FAST.

Right now DVDEmpire has a deal (that expires on JUNE 15) where you get FREE SHIPPING if you order 4 or more DVDs AND you get 3 DOLLARS OFF THE ORDER when you add this promotion code to your order: 214601.

I want these title so sell well so we can get Uncut SE's in the future (and it all depends on how these titles sell) so, if you're hesitant about picking them up, pick them up as cheaply as you can by using this coupon!

Here are the links to the pages for each film...

I came across these covers for Friday The 13th Part 7. The first one is the one that looks like the real one, based on the "widescreen collection" logo.

Overall, much better than Paramount's other horror DVD covers as of late (Silver Bullet, Friday 5 and 6).

I'm impressed.
