how is Franco's Succubus?

i saw it at the store for 9.99 (the AB version), i been into francos 70's stuff lately, i am just wonderin if i should pick this up

Not too shabby, decent film, plus the dvd is OOP so I'd say pick it up.

Terrible Francomovie imo. I have so far only seen 4 movies by him, but Succubus was by far the worst. And I wasn't too crazy about the others either. ;)

There is a very confusing plot, almost no blood, some nudity and not much else. Steer clear unless you're a Francophile.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the original Anchor Bay disc of Succubus was cut.

The Anchor Bay dvd of Succubus was the US cut; it had been changed from Franco's original edit (entitled 'Necronomicon') - including I think a different ending??

Also surprisingly distracting (this is one of Franco's most formally shot films) is the cropped image - 1.33:1, original was 1.85:1 I think; and there is some evidence of cropping vertically as well. The picture itself is washed out and grainy, not preserving the gaudy colours expected of this era of Franco. Sound is fine, with less distracting dubbing then usual, extras consist of just a trailer.

IMO, despite the disc's many shortcomings this is well worth picking up for a low price if your a Franco fan. Hell, even if your not it'll probably start picking up big prices on e-bay in a year or two. No blood or nudity, but the film plays more like a parody of arthouse cinema; complete with shameless name-dropping and dialogue which is never less then absurdly fascinating (and fascinatingly absurd).
