View Full Version : Halloween 4, to tin or not to tin?

Well after reading the review on this site, seems like the regular dvd is the way to go, but the tin will double it's value, like other tins, but that means I can never open the darn thing for re-sell value. Since 4 was way better than 5 or 6 and h20, what wouldyou guys do/buy?

i'd go with the regular version. i bought the tin and the fucker has nothing extra than a typical dvd. it has a lame excuse of a "4 page" book, but it's pretty shitty.

as for doubling it's value, i don't know about that. a lot of stores around here still have that tin for sale (and it's only like $25).

Definitely go with the regular version, the tin is a joke. That goes for Halloween 5 too.

I love the AB tins but I don't think they are going to be releasing any more in the near future. :( As far as the materials included in the tins verses the regular versions...they are the same except that the tin is # counted. ;) I'm a sucker for tins. :D

Bought all the AB tins apart from Heathers which I wasn't able to purchase. Don't know why I bought the Candy tin, though!

I think the tins add a touch of class to any shelf of DVDs...a talking point and good looking items, IMHO....

i am a sucker for the Tins as well.

I just like them and even if the Disc inside is the same, you still get those really cool tins.

I Think that AB said they don't intend to release any more Tins, but hopefully they will find another creative packaging concept.

In this case, Halloween 4, I really think buying the tin would be a waste of money. As previous posters have mentioned, they can still be found almost everywhere and it's been nearly a year since it was released. I don't think the value will increase that significantly. Add to that the sparse supplemental material you get in the tin-packaging itself and at least I think the extra $10 could be better spent (perhaps on a MGM Midnight Movie, right ArrowBeach? ;)).

I'm still looking for the Let Sleeping Corpses Lie tin. I found a copy of it at Suncoast a while back but I didn't have enough $$$ to get it. Now I can't find it anywhere. I'll just have to order it and see if there are any more copies to be had.

thrashard76, try to ask suncoast to order it. I still see it at local suncoast, or sam goody's. Or try the web, I think buy.com had some about a month ago.

I'll do that Arrow. ;) If anything maybe a Suncoast who has a copy in stock can send it to the Suncoast I order it from. Hey Arrow, what are the specs on the tin and how are they different from the regular edition?

Same here dude....if there is a tin to be had and its a movie I'm interested in it has to be mine. ;) Tins are so cool looking if not a pain in the arse to store.

But the tin in this case doesn't really add to the "edition" if you know what I mean. Everyone else gets the same transfer and extras on the actual DVD as you guys. But, hey, to each his own. However, I too usually want the best possible edition of a movie when buying it but this particular title and edition doesn't really warrant it.

I popped in my Halloween 4:SE disc yesterday, hoping to watch it for only the second time since I've owned it. To my surprise the disc was not recognized in all 4 of my DVD players (including DVD-ROM). This is the first time an AB disc has shut down on me like this, but thankfully they will let me send it back for a reimbursement. Has anyone else had similar problems with this disc?

I'm not interested in the Halloween tins though I see them a lot. Other than the Evil Dead II, The Beyond, Hellraiser and Let Sleeping Corpses Lie what other tins are available from AB?

there are also Tins for Repo Man (Very Good), Two Lane Blacktop (I haven't watched this one yet but I keep saying I will) and Candy which I don't have.

Thanks for the help guys. ;) If they are available I'll order the LE versions of Maniac, Heathers, Manhunter (not a tin...but), Akira, Memento (again no tin), Let Sleeping Corpses Lie and Halloween: Restored (an extreme long shot).

I think you'd be going to find a sealed copy of the Maniac Tin, i had to buy mine from an Amazon Marketplace seller for a very overly inflated price :( but the extra soundtrack disc looks way cool being cut out in the shape of a head.

Can I order straight from AB or must I order through a chain store like Suncoast or Best Buy?

Halloween 4 would've actually been a great movie if the material was handled as seriously as the first two, but there was way too much comic relief. Still, it's light years ahead of 5. I don't think it's worth a collector's tin.

Yes! I only had this disc two months before it died on me. I tried it in three different players with no luck. I checked the disc and it had a strange purple stain surrounding the ring on the information side. So much for that 100 year shelf life, huh?

All this talk of faulty discs is scaring me.

I've had the Halloween 4 tin on my shelf for ages but haven't watched it yet. May have to give it a test spin tonight....

You have to be careful though, when i was looking for the Evil Dead II tin a few stores had it on their database for sale, yet they had no stock.. you place an order and it sits on back-order for months, obviously they wont be getting any stock in if its LE :) So its best to fire an email off before ordering to make sure they have one in stock! Amazon Marketplace have plenty of Maniac Tins.. start at $54US though!! which is about what i paid for mine.. also there is one copy on eBay at the moment too! think it was at $24US last time i checked.

edit: im only looking at sealed copies - second hand or opened may be much cheaper?

Good thinking Zandri, I'll send ol' Suncoast an email and see if they in fact have some copies in stock.
