It was tough to pick between Eraserhead and Suspiria, but I have to go with Suspiria. I don't really condsider Eraserhead a horror. It is a great film though.

...I've gone for Suspiria.

Eraserhead's a classic, though.

(I purchased the Incredible Melting Man novel when I was a child - the cover was truly horrific. Still not seen the movie, though!:( )

DEAD END STREET was actually made in '72, otherwise, I would've voted for this recently dug-up sickie.

Instead I chose MARTIN.

I haven't seen most of these movies but Suspiria will be the one I chose here. Great polls by the way Helly. ;)

There were a lot of good films, but not many great ones from 1977. I'd have to go with Suspiria, even though I feel it is somewhat overrated. Glad to see you back with the yearly polls Helly!

I wish I could vote for Martin, here. But there's no way I can choose it (or anything) over Suspiria.

1977. Elvis left the building for the last time that year, and don't forget "Close Encounters...". It's "Suspiria" for me from this very memorable year.

I agree with Cujo, Sentinel for me even though Suspiria is very good The Sentinel just seems so creepy and 70ish you just gotta love it.

I'm kind of torn between Suspiria and Rabid. Because they're such radically different styles. I usually go more for the surreal, colorful, artsy approach. But Rabid was a sci-fi / horror hybrid that impressed me and that doesn't happen very often, plus it was gritty and not very stylish at all, and again, that's not my thing. Yet the film still really connected with me.

I'm going to go with Suspiria. Because of that pool scene, and the scene at the very end which is so amazing. They're among my favorite horror moments in the entire genre.

Great year for the genre including The Sentinel, Kingdom of the Spiders, and The Hills Have Eyes. :glasses: Suspiria easily wins the battle for me though, no contest.

A few other personal favorites of mine from '77 not mentioned would be The Car, Day of the Animals, and Shock Waves.

I voted for Suspiria, but would rather have voted for Shock Waves or The Car, or better yet, Rituals.

The film I enjoyed the most from that year was The Car with James Brolin. Cheesy as heck but I still enjoy it.

Great choices:

Rabid
Suspiria
THHE
Martin
Eraserhead

I probably should've spread the love, but it's October, and I always watch Suspiria once before or on Halloween. Mother of Tears was a disappointment this October, however.

Martin. This was a tough one and I love a lot of the films on here but Martin really had an effect on me when I first saw it.
