Some pretty dreadful films in '76! I'd be surprised as hell if anyone voted for PANIC. Whatta stinker.

I went with CARRIE.

The Omen works for me. ;) Some decent gore to boot too. :D

The Omen is great entertainment, and The Town That Dreaded Sundown is very influential, but Carrie is one of my favorite horror films of all time, and gets my vote.

A so-so year with two stand-outs; "Carrie" and "The Omen". However, my vote went to "The Tenant".

IMHO, a perfect horror film.

Grizzly. My second choice would be Burnt Offerings. God Told Me To deserves honorable mention.

Blood Sucking Freaks!

Followed by The Omen and Carrie.

With all the classics and flicks I really dig (Carrie and The Omen being the former, Food of the Gods being the latter), I voted for Grizzly, which is super entertaining, cheesy and fun.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown is also really, really enjoyable, but the ham-handed attempts at humour weigh it down a bit.

I don't think Squirm wil get much love, and it's much underrated - so I went with that.

Several good ones here, but THE OMEN just edged CARRIE for me.I have great fondness for GRIZZLY too,saw it in the theater as a wee lad.Better than THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG !

Dood! Town that Dreaded Sundown! How can you not love that trombone scene :D

Obviously, Omen and Carrie are classics. I like Grizzly too.

As much as I really enjoy Carrie and think it's technically a better film, Grizzly wins because it has a big, bad ass bear.

The Omen is one of my all time favorite flicks.

Since the question seems to be which is your favorite... My favorite movie to watch was Squirm. A very strange but chilling and incredibly effective movie. Actually scared me. Criminally underrated.

But I think Carrie is the best film of the year, no contest.

Tough call. A great year with many favorites, but strangely... I have to pick Blood Sucking Freaks. Not a "good" movie at all, but strangely watchable and far ahead of its time.
