I think FOUR FLIES was a 1972 release. Sorry about that. :(

Went with Abominable Dr. Phibes. Vincent Price is great in this. Love all the "theme" murders.

I'm torn between "...Phibes" and "Cat Of...", and purely out of nostalgia I choose "...Phibes".

A Lizard In A Woman's Skin - hands down. Definitely blows away any other film mentioned and also may be Fulci's best film, although The Beyond, Don't Torture A Duckling, and House By The Cemetery make a push to share the honors.

To those who have already voted, have any of you ever watched "A Lizard In A Woman's Skin?" I really doubt it.

Jessica - Where the fuck is this dvd!?! This should have been first on someone's list of priorities!

Brotherhood Of Satan. I thought this was one of the best of the satanism movies of the late 60's/early 70's.

I'd have to go with The Abominable Dr. Phibes. Classic flick.

Argento again, THE CAT O NINE TAILS. Yes... I admit... I'm a sucker for Argento movies

It was difficult to vote here. My choice was "HANDS OF THE RIPPER"
but there are many titles which come close:
DR. JECKYLL & SISTER HYDE
LUST FOR A VAMPIRE
A BAY OF BLOOD
THE DEVILS
DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS
TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD
THE CAT O NINE TAILS
LETS SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH
It was a good year IMO, but without an outstanding masterpiece.

Didn't you forget "THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED"?
:)

It came down to Twitch Of The Death Nerve and Tombs Of The Blind Dead both were excellent.Twitch though is a turning point in horror cinema..the birth of the true slasher/body count film..at least IMHO.So it gets my vote..

A lot of great ones up there, but Let's Scare Jessica to Death is my favorite. Here's hoping this is the year we finally get it on DVD.

We should probably have a newer poll than this. This ones so old I'm sure I must've already voted years back. I don't see how I could've missed it. Since then I bought a new computer and with it a new IP address so the poll doesn't remember me. In which case, I had to have voted for Phibes twice. It's been one of my all time favorite horror movies from any year since the late 80s.

Have to go with Tombs of The Blind Dead, with Let's Scare Jessica to Death, a close 2nd.

Damn...I had to go with Bay of Blood/Twitch of Death NErve, just because it is so innovative...Let's Scare Jessica to Death was a VERY close second though, and Tombs of the Blind Dead was not far behind either.

"Lets Scare Jessica To Death" is easily one of the creepiest films in movie history. It will be a happy day indeed when this classic finally gets the royal DVD treatment it heartily deserves. My runner-ups would be "Hands Of The Ripper" and "Twins Of Evil", both long overdue for an R1 DVD release as well.

How depressing. I've only seen A Virgin Among The Living Dead out of that whole list. I'm so far behind on horror movies. I doubt I'll ever catch up. :(

Wow, 1971 had some damn good releases. My vote is for Bay of Blood, all the way! One of the all time great slashers. Willard was one of my favorite films from that era as a kid. I was such a fan of the horror genre, yet most of these films I saw later in my life. I had no idea what I was missing!

Some one needs to give A LIZARD IN A WOMANS SKIN and DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS some love. Great films.

Tombs of the Blind Dead for me. That list had a few that I was unfamiliar with.
