I thought I was quite well-rounded when it came to 70's horror, but I haven't seen any of these films except The Bird With The Crystal Plumage. :(

Easily BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW! I wish MGM would release this classic to DVD already! Anyhow, second place would go to AND SOON THE DARKNESS.

Haven't seen a lot of these. I went with Scars of Dracula, which most seem to despise.

"Bird". The second most influential giallo alongside "B&BL".

Grrr, no I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. I'm a bit hazy as to the film's precise year, I've seen it listed as 1970 and '71.

This is where my vote goes!

HellBilly <------------ These polls have been great! It is fun to break all of these films down like this!

Sorry about that Street, I guess I missed much more than listed here. Should have left a "other" option.

Thanks John. Coming up soon: The films of the 90s. ;)

The '90s ?!. Good joke :). Right, I went with "Taste The Blood Of Dracula". I believe it's another Hammer title that Warner owns, I would love to see it restored on DVD. The UK VHS is cut, luckily I have the German version which is intact. The cut stuff takes place in a brothel, unfortunately these scenes feature the great Ralph Bates but in the version I have he speaks with a German tongue, so needless to say an uncut English language version is high on all Hammer fans' wishlist.

Ok, the 90s was a joke indeed but there were a few classics....In The Mouth Of Madness...Dead/Alive...Heavenly Creatures?
I think we should give it a try. :)

O.k., I believe that'd probably be "...Madness" for me then.

Never seen any of them either. But now I've got a good idea of what I should rent now.

Several nice movies in this year.
I voted for "VAMPIRE LOVERS"
But others worth to mention are:
BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE
AND SOON THE DARKNESS
MARK OF THE DEVIL
WEB OF THE SPIDER (DRACULA IN CASTLE OF BLOOD)
SCARS OF DRACULA
BLOOD ON SATANS CLAW
THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD
TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA
For me, "Count Yorga" was a real disappointment. It doesn't have the atmospheric sets of a Hammer production.
One title that was forgotten: CONQUEROR WORM = WITCHFINDER GENERAL. Not to be missed!

I have And Soon the Darkness in my Amazon shopping cart though.

The Vampire Lovers

I'm a sucker for Ingrid Pitt, none the less playing a lesbian! I'll watch that any day over the others.

pfft, this poll is a slaughter. The Bird with Crystal Plumage is awesome. Though I admit I've only seen about half this list, Bw/CP takes that cake, one of my fav. Argento Films.

Blood on Satan's Claw for me. The under rated Night Visitor has a great performance by Max Von Sydow though. It's a great revenge story.

I have it on a VCI disc. I don't claim to be an expert at screen ratio's and stuff, but the print is nice, colors bright, and soundtrack pronounced. It looks as good as I would hope.

1970 is not my favourite year for horror. I've seen only few of those on the list, and those I have seen, I'm not really extatic about.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage never impressed me. There are some bad supporting performances, it is not as narratively tight as The Cat-o'-Nine Tails, nor as intense as anything Deep Red or anything Argento did later.

I have to go with Count Yorga, Vampire. Though that film feels old and quaint, it still has some charm left.
