The early 90's....better times for grunge than horror it seems.....gotta go with THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS......

The People Under The Stairs. It was one hell of a fun movie to watch. Ghoulies III is also a guilty pleasure.

I liked The People Under The Stairs so much, I went out and got my own leather outfit, just like his!!!

(actually, I had that LONG before this movie came out, but you really don't want to hear about that!)

THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE. THE BONEYARD was also pretty good.

Silence of the Lambs. But a close second would have been People Under the Stairs. I loved that movie. But Silence was much more suspenseful.

I love There's Nothing Out There. That's a fun movie, so I voted for it.

The Silence of the Lambs, though, is one of the best horror films ever made. So it walks away as king of the year in horror.

Looking back, 1991 was weak for horror overall. The previous year had much better offerings. Silence of the Lambs wins this battle easily.

Yeah, I agree. But The Borrower was pretty good and People Under the Stairs was fun as hell.

Sorry, but I had to go with the popular favorite: THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. It is a crowd-pleaser, to be sure, but it's also the only movie on that list that had me on the edge of my seat--everything else just had me rolling my eyes (yes, especially THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS).

Not a great year for the horror film in retrospect...but didn't the popularity of SILENCE help bring about the return of the genre for the major studios? God, it seems like so long ago...

I went with Popcorn 'cuz I love it.

It was fun, saw it on the silver screen, but I cannot help but cringe to recall Dee Wallace Stone being afraid of the letters from the marque.

Silence of the Lambs would beat almost anything from any year for me, it's probably in my top five favorite movies of all time.

Interesting little aside, though... my girlfriend and I went to a used bookstore in my old hometown (population's about 5000 at the most) and I found a first printing copy of the book. I'm a big fan, so I was pretty damn stoked.

SILENCE.Not a strong year,in fact I thought the first half of the decade was kind of weak for straight horror.

I was wondering why I took a semi-hiatus from movies during high school. I didn't even see Silence of the Lambs until years after because my vibe was so low on the film scene. This list depresses me.

Wow. Nothing much good on that list. People Under The Stairs wins by default.

Wow. Nothing much good on that list.
Nothing? :(

I don't know if I said it already, but this is still a better compile of films than almost every year from this current decade. I mean, come on! There's Nothing Out There was great, Silence of the Lambs is a masterpiece, then with People Under the Stairs and The Borrower... Name 4 movies combined in any year from 2000 to 2008 (discounting Asian films, because unfortunately I haven't seen many) with 4 films as good as a combo that beats this 4.

And that's not even counting Subspecies (because I haven't seen it) which a great deal of people consider a great horror film.

Gotta do the Lambs.
