Jurassic Park wasn't exactly horror but what the hell.
It was much better then other so-called horror films released in 1993 though.

People screaming and running, getting chased by all sorts of Dinosaurs...severed arms and bloody lamb-chops, T-Rex eating a guy straight off the toilet. C'mon John, if that ain't horror.... ;)

I know, I know!! It has a good share of violence, but when I am in the mood for a horror flick, Jurassic Park is not one of the first films to come to mind. :D

For my favorite, I chose Trauma. I like the anorexia theme, I loved the "Ruby Rain" song, Argento's camerawork was awesome as usual, the psychotropic berries scene was interesting, the production values were good, and various images still stay in my mind - the girl dancing to the reggae band, the French Revolution cut-out thing in the opening, David in that sort of room of cloth, the end decapitation. And I thought the "rain" revelation was at least interesting.

Though there were moments in The Tommyknockers that I thought rivaled Trauma for best of the year. That was 1993, wasn't it? Why is it not on the list?

Agreed. It was a very weak year for horror. Unable to vote.

Agreed. It was a very weak year for horror. Unable to vote.

I felt the same, until I hit Cronos on the list. Not Guillermo del Toro's best, but definitely a bright spot on an otherwise dismal roster.

Sadly I seem to be alone in my assessment.

Rented that many years ago, but don't remember much aside from Ron Perlman being in it and a clever twist on vampirism. Now that I've seen nearly all of del Toro's work, it would be interesting to check it out again.

It was a tough choice between Army of Darkness and Jurassic Park. I went with JP. One of the movies I like more each time I see it.

Well I dont really consider Jurassic Park horror per se - And Army of Darkness Ive always enjoyed but not nearly as much as Evil Dead I and II - But for some reason I really liked Return of the Living Dead III as a standalone movie (should have never been part of the series) so even though I like Army of Darkness just as much Ill give ROTLD III my underdog vote

I think Trauma's underrated too.

Well that's Spielberg for you. But I do appreciate that he puts some horror elements in films like Jurassic Park and Duel and Jaws. I think people in fact underestimate Jurassic Park as a "scary" movie. It has a fantastic build-up that is the same in intention as most horror movies. Very dark, spacious, and full of tension. Not to mention that the dinosaurs actually kill people. Technically, it's more graphic than both Gremlins films.

Had to go with NEEDFUL THINGS. It's funny, suspenseful, with great actors & cinematography...

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! (does a Tom Cruise couch-dance)
