SHIT! It was extremely hard picking between two of my absolute favorites, CEMETERY MAN (aka DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE) and IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS! In the end though, I chose the former just by an edge. Carpenter's classic comes in a very close second place though. Both films are masterpieces in my eyes!

Mute Witness is the best Hitchcock film not made by Hitchcock

Now, not to nitpick, HBD, but you seem to be a little off in your dates on some of these polls. Where do you see In The Mouth of Madness as a '94 film? Every reference I have considers it '95...

07-03-2002, 12:35 AM
Paff, my reference was the LD that I just checked (again). Even tho the back cover says 1995 the end credits say 1994...
According to imdb IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS had its US premiere February 3, 1995.
So, technically 1994 would be correct.

But your right, some movies are a bit off date. I should check imdb more often, can't trust those rusty braincells of mine. ;)

Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Very daring direction for a sequel to take.

Wes Cravens New Nightmare was a great twist on an otherwise decent sequel.

I was really suprised at how well this turned out.

I don't think Serial Mom really qualifies for this list...

I know Jamms. There are quite a few films here that don't really qualify as horror.... Let's just say I included those as "honorable mentions." :)

I'd have to go with In the Mouth of Madness since its a horror flick, but my 1st choice would have been Serial Mom. That is one fucked up funny movie. So now it just gets honorable mention.

CEMETARY MAN... The worlds greatest movie of all time, all categories!!! Rupert Everett is excellent as Francesco...

Serial Mom. I'm so glad you listed it too, I think it totally counts as a horror-comedy.

If we're counting In the Mouth of Madness as a 1994 release, well then, count another vote for John Carpenter.

Cemetery Man for me with In the Mouth of Madness and Lurking Fear very close.

Spreading the love to Shatter Dead. It has (a lot) of faults, but it's also quite intelligent, and deals with Zombies in a way other films don't - like people.
