I voted for Scream. Love it or hate it, it was still a witty and influential film.

Damn...I just lost some respect for ya there Rhett.

Even though From Dusk till Dawn is my favorite MOVIE from that year, I think Stendhal Syndrome is the best HORROR movie listed.

Had to go with FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. Very kickass film! Second place goes to THE FRIGHTENERS.

"The Stendhal Syndrome" though the year was laughable thanks mainly to "Scream".

Went with The Frighteners. Not a lot to choose from this year also.

Aww, come on! There is no denying it was hugely influential (I did not say that was a good thing), and it did have wit. It was original and self-referential, and it was fun to see an homage to lost slasher genre. The movie did lose steam as the minutes went on, but I still think the Suspiria/When A Stranger Calls opening was extremely intense and dare I say scary.

It isn't a great film, but I really think it is getting unfair treatment on this board. I personally loathe the endless imitations and teeny bopper slasher flicks that followed in its wake, but on its own, Scream is a good film.

From the '96 list, I voted for From Dusk Till Dawn - great movie! There were some pretty decent movies made that year. I thought Scream was okay - the opening sequence is extremely well done. Unfortunately I lost interest towards the end. Still haven't caught the Director's Cut yet....

Stendhal Syndrome's definitely underrated. A future classic, me thinks.

STENDAHL SYNDROME... Modern classic Argento with the great acting of Asia. I like the turnovers in the movie and the nice mood

Scream. Clearly a masterpiece.

I thought The Craft had a very important message but a recent re-watch showed me where many viewers might have gotten the impression this was nothing more than a chick flick. It's definitely heavy-handed at times.

Argento's Stendhal Syndrome was quite good but had a few drawbacks. Scream had none.

For me Tesis is the easy choice.

I love Scream. It's a classic and all, but I've gotta say From Dusk Till Dawn. Thesis was very good, too.
