My vote: MIMIC.

I thought Event Horizon was extremely creepy and well done. It gets my vote.

Event Horizon! scared the crap outta me

07-03-2002, 05:29 PM
Even though it becomes an Aliens clone at the end, I like Mimic a lot. One of the best sounding Dolby Digital movies I've heard.

Event Horizon is pretty good too though

I chose THE NIGHT FLIER. Miguel Ferrer is simply excellent in this creepy King adaptation, and this film is one of my favorites! Coming in a close second place is CUBE.

I'm going with An American Werewolf In Paris. ;)

Alien Resurrection for me - bit of a strange year...nothing really gripped me....

Event Horizon

07-04-2002, 01:20 AM
"Funny Games".

07-04-2002, 03:48 PM
Cube followed by The Night Flier, Alien: Resurrection and Mimic

07-06-2002, 02:51 AM
Cube ruled! But I seem to remember someone here saying something about a sequel? Tell me it isn't true!!!

07-09-2002, 06:28 PM
Damn, what a slow year. I'm going to have to pick Event Horizon. It creeped the shit out of me in theaters.

07-12-2002, 05:12 PM
The Devils Advocate. Pacino is the devil in real life...soo..it's only fitting he's in this movie.

07-16-2002, 02:12 PM
EVIL ED... Swedish splatter

07-19-2002, 10:35 PM
The Relic. Also liked Event Horizon, Wishmaster & Mimic.

08-12-2002, 06:26 PM
Loved the Lost World (I'm a sucker for cgi dinos) but it is not really a horror flick. Relic and Devil's Advocate also pretty good.

08-12-2002, 07:49 PM
I voted for THE RELIC, one of the best monster movies in the past decade...totally surprised at the number of you who actually liked EVENT HORIZON...bored me to tears, one of the worst big-budget genre movies I've ever seen...(and that's saying a LOT)...

08-12-2002, 08:18 PM
i vote for event horizon. it's good and could easily have been a hellraiser movie. albeit a future space hellraiser movie without cenobites....but whatever

CUBE! Without a doubt. :)

Funny Games would be second I suppose.

09-24-2002, 06:27 AM
Event Horizon

Sam Neil rocks.

06-16-2008, 03:18 PM
I haven't seen Cube, Evil Ed, The Ugly, Uncle Sam, or The Devil's Advocate. :(

So I went with Scream 2. But I was surprised at how good The Night Flier was.

06-16-2008, 03:53 PM
I loved Cube, but it always seemed more sci-fi than pure horror.

I voted for Event Horizon, and am actually pleasantly surprised to see it in the lead so far, considering all the hate for Paul W.S. Anderson.

Pretty dull year for cinema when The Devil's Advocate stands out as one of the best offerings. Event Horizon gets my vote. I just watched Alien Resurrection last month for the first time in nearly ten years. Awful movie!

07-16-2008, 12:14 AM
I really love The Relic, but I had to go with Event Horizon. Scared the crap out of me when I saw it ten years ago and there are some elements I still really love.

Also, Zao named one of their best records after a line from the flick, so it's got that going for it too.

07-16-2008, 03:47 AM
Cube for me, even though it's a little more on the sci-fi side. But I guess so is Event Horizon. Runner up would easily be Funny Games.

Event Horizon here - kinda cruddy year.

Voted for THE RELIC,a good old fashioned monster movie with gusto.CUBE was a good arty horror though, and EVENT HORIZON has some real strengths as well.

07-16-2008, 05:27 PM
Funny Games wins this year for me.

07-16-2008, 06:32 PM
Actually a lot of good stuff that year! My vote goes to Event Horizon though!

07-16-2008, 07:22 PM
Wishmaster! I also liked Alien: Resurrection. I don't know why so many people dig Event Horizon or Mimic. I didn't like either much.

07-17-2008, 01:48 PM

I haven't seen those (I'm just not into sci-fi horror that much). But it's okay. I don't know how anyone could even vote for Wishmaster.

07-17-2008, 10:16 PM
Except for Cube, there's no real classics from this year. So yeah, Cube gets my vote.

Plenty of "enjoyable" flicks though:

Wishmaster, Uncle Sam, The Devils Advocate, An American Werewolf In Paris, The Night Flier, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Scream II

I really need to re watch Event Horizon and Mimic. Neither blew me away when I first saw them, but that was a loooong time ago.

Alien: Resurrection I didn't mind. I just really hated the stupid ending.

Good lord, what a bad year. But Funny Games is terrific.

Runner-ups would be I Know What You Did Last Summer and Event Horizon.

07-20-2008, 11:38 PM
Event Horizon was a great theater film. Fun stuff. Agreed with a previous poster who said it had a Hellraiser feel.

Cannot muster up the strength to give Mimic a try.

07-21-2008, 05:58 AM
Definitely Cube, great film.

07-22-2008, 03:39 PM
Event Horizon - darned good flick! Not a lot to choose from in that year.
