wow all i wanted out of JGTH is the uncut version..but they deliver the R version to (that will be my first time seeing the R). plus a few nice extras. i hope there not in crapper snappers...that would suck...but im willing to take a crappy snapper in place of 2 solid discs.

ps- is jason x going to be unrated? it doesnt really matter cause it sounds like not much gore was takin out anyway..but im just wondering.

Eh, don't ya think they'd mention if it was Uncut? I mean they did with JGTH, so why not? But whatever, I'll get these two too (haha). I feel kinda disappointed, although I have no reason why... .

Yeah, me too. I don't understand why New Line would release one uncut and the other cut, unless the trims are really not substantial enough to justify an unrated version. Anyway, when JX comes out maybe someone who has the uncut R2 disc can post a comparison.

This is great news, I knew New Line would not disappoint. Take note, Paramount, this is how you treat Mr. Voorhees! :)

I heard that Paramount was planning on revisiting the Friday series now that 7 and 8 have been released. It seems they have been listening to the fans but for some stupid reason, they wanted to release a barebones edition before they release any kind of special edition. This just doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to put the money into making two editions, why not just make one definitive edition which will be a sure sell?

Why sell the DVD of a film once when you know that fans would buy both of them? From an economic standpoint, Paramount is doing the smart thing to do.

Before I reply to the topic, I'll say fuck Paramount. Do it right the FIRST time. Sure its smart from a profitable standpoint, but it pisses me off to no end as a consumer. Now.......I'm glad to see NL giving both of these F13th films a release they deserve. JGTH will make a nice addition, even though The Man himself is hardly in the film. The fact that its unrated helps. Jason X wont be uncut because according to Issac himself, there really wasnt much to cut at all. Only over-the-top stuff that he KNEW would be cut, such as the guy that gets killed on the giant screw. He originally spun around and around and around and around and around, so the MPAA asked him to cut out a few frames. I just cant wait to own it on disc, Jason X fucking rocked.

rhett, you're correct that from an profitable standpoint it makes sense. I guess sometimes I just place too much faith in large companies. They never got my dollar though. I haven't bought a single F13 film on DVD. Not only was it a barebones edition, but the asking price was insane. I rarely pay $30 for ANY DVD.

Outstanding!

I knew New Line would come through on these. Says something about them vs. Paramount when you compare specs.

And I am very glad JGTH is available unrated - that's a much better version of the film, which I really do like.

And I liked Jason X too so I'm glad it's getting a nice PS treatment.

Come on, October...

as stated before..what new line did with nightmare on elm street was the perfect thing to do. sure i would of liked them uncut but they added so much shit..it actually didnt bother me. what new line did is exactly how paramount should have done (minus the crapper snappers). i know money wise what there doing is smart but there pissing off everyone and thats not wise. i dont care if Nightmare On Elm Street made new line....JGTH and jason x didnt make new line and there still putting out exellent dvds for both. paramount is just in some wacko world with disney...

According to the IMDB, two death scenes were slightly trimmed. http://us.imdb.com/AlternateVersions?0211443
Can't wait to get the unrated JGTH on DVD! Compared to the R-rated version, it's like night & day.

Uh, when I said dissappointed, I meant about the disc. I know it was only a few frames cut, so I don't really care about the uncut-ness.

I guess I wanted to like these movies more than I did, if that makes sense...

Is Jason X gonna be in one of those shitty paper snap cases???

i dont know..new line cant make up its damn mind what they want. blade 2 is going to be a platium edition and i think its going to be a keep case (from the pics ive seen). all the infinifilms (of whatever) are in keep cases..but some newer platinum editions are in crapper snappers. damn new line..make up your mind haha

I saw JGTH and didn't like it. Then my cousin told me about the Uncut version that he saw, and all those kick ass sences were not in the flim. So I am glad to get this DVD, but my fav, part 6 is still as cut as cut can be, maybe one day :(

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that the JX dvd will be cut, especially since it's uncut in R2land. New Line could've also used the unaltered print. I know the cuts are "minimal", but the thing that bothers me the most is that those bastards at the MPAA just HAD to get their greasy little hands on SOMETHING. Oh well I'll buy it anyway 'cuz I don't believe New Line is in the habit of double-dipping.

Sweet! I can get my copy of Jason X AND Footloose! I hope it's uncut!

Looking at the covers, I'm wondering what's everybody's favorite F13 poster? I think I'd have to choose the first film's poster. In one of my classes I wrote a page and a half paper on the poster, so I see a lot more in that print than in others. Plus it's very atmospheric and sets the mood for not only the first, but I'd say first 4 films.

If the R2 version is uncut, I'm half tempted to purchase it despite the goodies offered on the R1 release. This is a sad admission but I really do hate knowing that a film has been trimmed, even if the cuts are small. :(

Decisions, decisions....

Amen in Footloose, an 80's classic I tell ya! :)

As far as my favorite poster, my vote probably goes to Part 3. Jason's knife coming out at you is just damn cool. Part 1 and Part 6 are also genuine classics as well. Thumbs down on the lame text only posters they released for Parts 2, 4, and 5 though.

rhett, I don't follow you. I was under the impression that 2 was the silhouette with the axe, 4 was the mask with the knife and 5 was... just the mask i think.

Fistfuck, that may be the case, but all the posters for sale on eBay are of text only original one sheets, and I have yet to see original US theatrical one sheets with anything but text for Parts 2, 4 and 5.

MovieGoods has the original US, style "a" half-sheet for $24.99 here! (http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_product.asp?sku=106453&master%5Fmovie%5Fid=7132&mscssid=F87HJRHT0D8A9G6URDKDG924MT1EB5QA)

Rhett, that has always puzzled me also! As a collector of movie posters (a damn expensive hobby, BTW), I have only been able to find the text versions for FRIDAY THE 13TH 2,4, and 5 full-sheets online. Now, I remember seeing THE FINAL CHAPTER, when it debuted in the theaters..and the full-sheet poster displayed in the multiplex was the hockey mask with the knife through the eyehole. On a similar note, when A NEW BEGINNING came out, the newspaper (Dayton Daily News) had the rare, alternate poster image, with the young boy holding the machete and Jason's mask looming in the background. I'm sure the art-filled FRIDAY posters are very rare (and already spoken for) and I am not wasting my money on the awful text-only poster versions!

Some Alternate FRIDAY THE 13TH posters (http://us.imdb.com/Posters?0080761) Alternate posters for FRIDAY THE 13TH: A NEW BEGINNING (http://us.imdb.com/Posters?0089173)

It is puzzling Codez...you'd think on eBay of all places there would be at least ONE auction for those mentioned posters. I have checked eBay for Friday the 13th posters weekly for years, and I have never found those posters on auction. Agreed though, those text only posters are just lame!

BTW....this is probably the nicest ORIGINAL FRIDAY THE 13TH poster that I've ever seen up for bid on Ebay! I am tempted to crack the piggy bank on this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1554190992) !

Beware Codez, that picture has been used for most Friday the 13th poster auctions...I think it came from the Moviegoods site. The only way to really assure that the poster is original is if it has the national screen service banner on the bottom-middle. Otherwise, if it isn't folded, it is most likely a reprint.

Thanks rhett! My enthusiasm quickly died down after I reread the listing and saw that it was rolled (which, as you hinted at, is very rare for a poster from that era)...and then I read your reply...and after checking Moviegoods.com, per your reference, I discovered that it was indeed an exact match to a reprint offered there! Now, maybe the seller was too lazy to scan a pic of the actual poster, but I somehow doubt that. I DID send the seller an email asking if she would send me a clear scan of the actual poster up for bid and if she would agree to using an escrow service. After my enthusiasm died down, did I still want the poster? No....there are too many other sellers on ebay with original F13th posters and with the actual pics of those posters for me to gamble $30 on a seller with a 23 feedback rating. However, I am still curious to see her response to my request.....

Wait around on eBay...often times auctions go under the radar of most of the buyers, and you can sometimes get vintage posters cheap. I got a mint Friday the 13th original for 5 bucks, and better yet, I got a very rare Halloween 4 one sheet for $2.50 :)

I scored a F13th Part 8 teaser poster. Its the one that Phelps is using for his avatar. The one with Jason slicing open the "I Love NY" poster. Very cool. Paid $10 at a convention.
