The excellent killer worm film, SQUIRM is finally coming to DVD in 2003! I love this film, and am glad to hear this! I got this off of another DVD site:

----------------------------------------------------

I received a call from Jeff Lieberman this evening, giving me the ok to tell everyone that his classic killer worm film, Squirm is coming to DVD sometime next year.

We can expect a new anamorphic transfer of the R- rated cut from an original CRI! As for extras -- expect a commentary with Jeff, trailers, and a few other surprises. The disc will be part of the Midnite movies series, but will be released on its own with a retail of $14.95.

Jeff is seemed really happy that MGM is giving this classic the respect it deserves. He said "Two down, Two to go!" I really excited about this one, as it's the film that got me hooked on horror and exploitation films.

-----------------------------------------------------

MGM comes through for us horror fans again!

I would even love an MST3K dvd with the uncut movie on the flip side.

I hope the DVD will have the Drew Struzan poster art as the cover. I think that's one awesome poster.

It'd be nice if MGM put the MST3K thing on there, even though that'd be a bit degrading to the film.

Blue Sunshine involves High school kids who all tripped on LSD(Blue Sunshine) and become killers later in life. Synapse is also releasing it with a CD soundtrack.

I got the dvd yesterday and watched it twice (with commentary and without). The picture is fantastic and the sound is good. I really liked the commentary. Lieberman points out that Kim Basinger, Sylvester Stallone and Martin Sheen all were considered for roles in the movie:eek1: I'm glad he didn't pick them or the movie probably would have sucked. I've always loved this movie ever since I first saw it at the drivein back in the 70s.

Betterdan you give me hope. I am waiting for mine to come in the mail and after a few crap dvd pick ups, I was worried about this one. Squirm with a good picture and a fun commentary, wow. I can't wait for my order to get here.

Thanks for the heads up dan. I haven't seen this film since it first came out on video back in the 80s.
I hope my disc arrives next week!

I got this yesterday and gave it a spin today. This was a really enjoyable and effective little gem, thanks much in part to how Lieberman motions it and holds it together. I haven't seen a B-flick in a long time that's used its premise, sets, effects and characters so effectively. The key is characterization and Lieberman does it beatifully for a whole half-hour in the beginning where both plot and characters are established so that one really cares for what happens to those goofy people throughout.

It's all very tight and even though you don't get much worm-action until the final act its editing and settings never allows a tedious moment. That slow build-up pays off big-time when the worms really gets pissed of and starts tearing things up.

I really loved the eccentric soundtrack too and the print, oh man, for a film from '76 this was absolutely stunning. This was a really pleasant find and surprise for me and ranks as one of the better low-budget thrillers from the 70's I've seen. Slither away and buy it now!

I'm "in waiting" too. I didn't want the hassle of going into city traffic this weekend so I ordered it. Still waiting.....
This always seems to happen when its a title I have been dying for.

This is my favorite movie from the 8/26 batch. A fun "creepy crawlie" from Lieberman. The commentary was equally enjoyable. This movie and the immortal Slugs make a great double feature!
