Anchr Bay UK were looking into this after a number of requests for it at their UK forum. I don't know if ABUSA are going to issue it there as well?

This is pretty cool news....Elite doing a The Hills Have Eyes ME would be great too but an AB treatment should kick ass.

didnt WB have the rights at first? thank god there not bringing it out (not that they would of anyway). WB has no excuse for not releasing unrated material. look at the new "true romance: UNRATED DIRECTORS CUT). so if WB is sitting on some gorefests then they better release them right. but hey anchorbay does the films right..so i couldnt be happier with this news.

I'd love to own this on DVD. I thought it was much better than Last House. The entire last 20 minutes of this movies are amazing.

This is definitely great news, but has there been any official word from Anchor Bay yet?

Check out the article over at www.creature-corner.com. They write something in the line of (and I'm paraphrasing here) "/.../ that Michael Berryman, along with Anchor Bay, says that The Hills Have Eyes will be released in 2003 /.../".

I've never visted CC before, so does anybody know how reliable their news is?

Don't know how reliable CC is. I can tell you that Anchor Bay will not confirm or deny this rumor. Only time will tell.

It was at the Cinema Wasteland Show in Ohio and yes, Michael Berryman said that Anchor Bay was releasing "The Hills Have Eyes" on DVD, although no dates or details were mentioned.

Man am I excited about the idea of finally adding this DVD to my collection!
Hoping for a Special Edition, but I would settle for just a great widescreen transfer.
This one can not come out soon enough :D
What's probably happened is that Michael Berryman may have spoken before he should have. He's probably recorded a commentary track, but Anchor Bay is likely still doing all the legal work before they can "officially" announce the title.
That kind of thing happens a lot. The DVD companies usually err on the side of caution, 'cause you look REAL stupid when you can't release a title you already announced. So the companies now are completely silent until right about the time the discs are ready to be sent out.
They're just trying to avoid something like the last minute cancellation of The Tenant. In other words, this is probably gonna happen, we'll hear something from AB in the near future. Of course, Mike spilling the beans a little sooner may force AB to make an announcement earlier than they planned.
I sure hope it does happen though. It would suck if they did all this work and the disc gets cancelled for legal reasons. This is the reason I don't seek out rumors except from the companies themselves. I get more disappointed when a title is announced then pulled, than if they had never announced it to begin with. Am I the only one who feels that way??

Nope, I agree. It's just wise business from Anchor Bay's part not to announce it before all the red tape is cleared. And we're probably wise too to wait for their official announcement so we don't get disappointed yet again.

Me too, because I'd rather not know about a release than get exremely upset that a movie I was really looking foward to disappeared. AB's major flaw definitly was, to use the phrase, counting their chickens before they hatched. Being tight lipped about many of their upcoming releases seems to show they've learned their lesson (the 2003 release list on their site is increadibly small right now.)

I`m ashamed to say i have never seen this film, i remember seeing the cover in video shops back in the early eighties
but for some reason never rented it. i`ve been tempted to bid on ebay a few times, but on hearing this great news i think i`ll sit tight and wait for the dvd.
