Does anyone know if there are any plans on a US DVD release? This movie should really be seen! Martin Landau, Jack Palance are great in this flick! This movie has not been on tv in years. But the Movie Channel Extra aired it a few weeks back.

Yeh, this movie is awesome!
Class dialogue & some of the coolest over-acting, from Palance & Landau!

It's like some kind of sci-fi western, complete with a vertual western cast. Even Neville Brand is there!

Best line - Landau: 'coz they don't know nothin' . . . . . . about nothin'!!!

Unless you're lucky and catch this film on cable, Bootlegs are the only way your gonna see this flick.
There was a great article in Fangoria about Greydon Clark and he said that (then) Orion had the rights to this film and simply refused to release it on video...no reasons given, either. He was perplexed and disappointed since the film is oft-requested by fans.
I remember when this played a week in Reno back in 1981 at the drive-in with Deranged. I remember seeing the trailer late night on TV and I just had to see this. It would be another 5 years before I would (on late-night TV with 30 minutes missing!!!) and another 10 years before I obtained a terrific bootleg from Greece. Now if only I could get this on DVD! I have many items from this film: posters, lobby cards, pressbook and the 35 mm theatrical trailer...love it!

Perhaps you could get in touch with MGM? It's probably their title now if Orion had the rights earlier. It would be real nice with a special edition with all those posters, lobby cards and trailer. ;)

I still have my old original cassette on VHS of it, under the title 'The Warning' - released on Vipco. So if you can track one of those down . . . . . it's completely uncut - decent quality print, but pan & scan.

I've used to have the German PolyGram video release of this flick.
If MGM holds the rights to this film, "Without Warning" would make an excellent Midnite Movie DVD release.

Without Warning was a movie I still yet have seen. Sounds like a cool ass flick!!

Also if I stand right... I think this movie is owned by HBO (video)

Wow just seen this for the first time last night. The similarities with Predator are numerous right down to the Alien Hunter being played by the late great Kevin Hall in both. A great cast and perfectly overacted by all. Now one question remains, whatever happened those boyscouts?

There's a throwaway line from one of the rednecks about a bunch of lost boyscouts being found, I believe.

A great little lost gem of a cult / horror film. i got a nice copy off of cable, but hope one day for a DVD release. Without Warning was photographed by DEAN CUNDEY soon after Halloween and The Fog! and also features music by Dan Wyman, who also worked with Carpenter!

So, the story might be crap, but it'll look and sound great! ;)

The movie is definitely owned by MGM now. I assume they'll get around to releasing it on DVD sometime, but until then I would recommend duping a cable airing, as it's a remastered print from them and nicer than any tape edition I've seen.

They are probably on a little meathook in the smaller shed somewhere.....

I seem to remember that throw-away line about finding the boyscouts somewhere too.

The chemistry & overcooked acting between Landau & Palance is awesome.

No the line goes something like, the Sherrifs out looking for some boyscouts from the city. Then the next thing it appears the Sherrif is coming to their rescue but it turns out to be Dobbs driving the car, so we never find out!

I remember seeing the trailer on television for this back in 1980, when low-budget horror movies like this one still got theatrical play. Movies like this, "The Children" etc....whenever I'd see the ads, I'd get all freaked (I was ten) but also excited to see the movie...The thing I remember from the ads the most was the little flying discs that he threw...Then, the movie came and went, and of course, I was not taken to go see it. I kept thinking it would show up on cable/tv, but it never did...I finally caught it at a very odd hour, and I think it was on network television. It was so dark I could barely make out what was going on.

Years later, I was able to get an imported VHS dub, I think it's the VipCo version...Definitely easy to see why it was never a bigger deal, but it's got some great moments, and good camp value.

I think the most notable item is the fact that yes, Predator almost seems like a 100% rip-off of this movie.

I have an bootleg with Japanese subtitles and a fair copy from an old and worn out tape of my aunt's. This would rule! Let's bust some ass and get it released!! :)

I have two old PAL VHS copies but the quality is poor and it is edited (and these are official releases). Last year a got ahold of a DVD copy in NTSC and the quality is awsome. I got it off ebay.

And it is uncut.
