What would the outcome be if 2 of the worlds best writers were given the chance to intertwine their mytos into a world of super natural and chaotic wonder? How will the characters react in this realm and try to come up with some sort of resolve?

I like this idea but I don't know if it has or can be done. What do you all think?

It wouldn't be that big of a stretch, already the writing styles are similar and the mythos of both could easily be interrelated. To see what such a world would be like, read some of Lord Dunsany who came out before Lovecraft (for the most part) and inspired him, and his works have also been compared to Tolkein as well. Also see Arthur Machen and Clark Ashton Smith, maybe even early Le Spague de Camp.

There already was a Lovecraft/Tolkien crossover, it was called The Watcher In The Water (movie version)

Wow, that sure would be one cool crossover I'd love to see. Too bad their both dead.
