I pretty much have no interest in seeing this film, but for those who are interested and can deal with Luminous, they have an uncut, 16X9 DVD in stock. Take a look:

I picked up this DVD about 6 months ago - I heard the picture quality is better than the Criterion disc, but it's still pretty crappy - audio is even worst.
Compare both DVD's at:

The region 2 has been out for a while, I want to pick it eventually, but have no way to play PAL at the moment.

Wow, the BFI seems to be the way to go. Run time is longer, scenes not in the Criterion version are in the BFI and the Criterion transfer looks greenish where the BFI looks more natural. No sound rating for either so it seems BFI is better.
"The Criterion has been slightly cropped on both vertical sides (see captures # 1-5) and has deleted a scene (25-second sequence during the first wedding ceremony - see capture # 6). It shows more edge enhancement and the color is strangely yellow/greenish compared to the BFI version. The BFI subtitles are clearer. BFI DVD image shows slightly more damage (see 'black hole' in capture # 3) and occasional fluctuations in brightness. The Criterion image is sharper than the BFI which appears soft at times especially noticeable for a film with many medium to long shots. The BFI has just nine chapter stops, which are timed to coincide with Pasolini’s own chapter divisions. The Criterion has 29 chapters in a nice DVD menu. The Criterion sub-titles are removable but not as clear as the BFI ones which are brunt in."

The BFI disc has some weird pops and hiss sounds at the begining of each chapter - possibly one of the worst audio tracks I've ever head on a DVD.

The BFI image looked sharper then Criterions to my eyes. If I ever decide to give this film a whirl, it'll be the BFI release.

I have the BFI one, but the disc popped off of the thing and got porked during the shipment. It cuts out on certain scenes (the chick eating shit for one) and I will be better equiped when I get a Skip Doctor.

Hah hah! I forgot about that damn scene. The sickest poop munching scene is in Pink Flamingo's though, It's for real! I hate Pink Flamingos btw.
