I started to watch this the other day, but I had been drinking a lot and playing Vice City...egads...
Anyhow, I had listened to Crawl Unit "Stop Listening" previously, and figured that this would be a great soundtrack.
Would I miss much from lame pianos? I can follow the action and stuff, so musical cues do not help me since I live in these times. I don't know.
Any fans of great experimental music have any suggestions or if anyone has tried it? I could throw on some harsher stuff, but "Stop Listening" sounds like great soundtrack material.
Needless to say, I drunkenly turned it off about half way through. I wanted the real experience before I put my own sound to it. Meh...

I've found with silent films that an alternate soundtrack can be quite an experience. For example, the second disc of the Tom Petty two disc best of syncs almost perfectly with the German Masterworks version of The Golem (which has no soundtrack to begin with)

Works great with sound films as well, anybody else try the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Rush 2112? After Mr. Wonka sticks his cane into the ground, start the album as close as you can when he grabs for it the second time, and just let the album play!

Alcohol helps!

Man, I've heard about the 2112 thing...
I love the goddamn album and Willy is one of my favorite movies. I'll have to try it this weekend...booze is the guest of honor.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably try the Caligari/Crawl Unit thing tonight. I don't know how well it'll sync up, but who cares. Maybe I should try it on a sober night, hahhaha.

Its pretty creepy. I think that website has a tracklist of other Rush songs that sync up with the remainder of the film. They had shown Wizard of Oz here with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, another famous sync with two VERY overrated players.

I've done the Wizard/Floyd thing. I didn't like the movie or the album before hand. Afterwards, though, I think Dark Side is a great album. I'm looking forward to this Rush one. I might do this tonight instead of the Crawl unit thing.

Well, I did both. I thought the Rush one was ok, at least I got to listen to 2112 and watch Wonka. The Crawl Unit thing blew me away. I started (by chance) at 0:05 into Caligari, and stuff synched up. I had to watch it again just to make sure. I was very impressed. Plus, the Crawl Unit soundtrack makes the movie way creepier.

I've got another one for you Numania... A few years ago, a friend of mine and I discovered this. Really good death/black/heavy metal syncs up perfectly with Popeye. I'm serious, any random Popeye cartoon, 9 times out of 10 it works!

Popeye is the true purveyor of Polish National Socialist Black Metal!
