It's called Cursed and re-teams Craven with Scream writer Kevin Williamson.

From imdb:
"A serial killer stalking women in Los Angeles is cursed by a hunger he cannot define, by changes he cannot explain, by the incessant howling he hears every night..."

No cast is yet assigned.

From Kevin Williamson's website:
Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson Reteam to Make 'Cursed'
NEW YORK, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of Dimension Films, announces that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson -- the creative minds behind the smash-hit "Scream" trilogy -- will reunite to make the edge-of-your-seat thriller, "Cursed," for Dimension. Set in Los Angeles, the film is a modern, hip twist on the classic werewolf tale. Production will begin in L.A. immediately with the film's release slated for a wide release August 8, 2003.

"Kevin wrote a fun, scary and surprise filled script just like the original 'Scream.' The only person I thought of to direct it was Wes Craven," said Weinstein, "and I couldn't be more excited to team them up again for what I think is another crowd pleasing thrill ride. In the way they made scary movies fun, Kevin and Wes will reinvent the werewolf genre."

"I'm very excited to be teaming up with Bob and Kevin again," said Craven. "It should be a lot of fun." In 1999, the "Scream" trilogy became the highest grossing horror franchise, series, of all time, with domestic box office receipts for the three films reaching $293,533,842. "Cursed" will be produced by Kevin Williamson and Marianne Maddalena, a longtime collaborator with Wes Craven who executive produced "Scream" and produced "Scream 2" and "Scream 3." Production on "Cursed" will take place in Los Angeles.

Hope that helps.

É really don't want to sound like a complete asshole but I couldn't care less about Craven's future project - especially if Kevin Williamson is involved. :fuck:

And that is supposed to interest... who?

Accually maybe you're right... I'm not sure that the werewolf genre needs Wes Craven... at least not the "Teenagers-turning-into-werewolfs-jumping-out-of-closets" Wes Craven. I don't know if "stalking women in Los Angeles" feels like a good werewolf movie plot... Werewolfs belong in the woods thats when they're the scariest...

But what Wes Craven can do is vouch for a budget that the genre hasn't been spoiled with... so lets hope he can do something good with the dollares.

If he only comes near Dog Soldier I'm happy... If not... I don't have to buy it.

I used to love Wes Craven movies I mean LHOTL, the hills have eyes one and two. I even liked that eddie murhpy movie he maid. But now I don't even think of wess as a horror director. His stuff is too tame I mean why not make LHOTL 2.

This one definitely has promise. Craven, Williamson and Baker are three great horror talents.

Craven hasn't made a good film in a long while, but when he is at the top of his game, he is capable of greatness. He unfortunately hasn't been at the top since the early 90s.

Baker has always been great, and his effects work has always been spectacular.

As for Williamson, I personally think he is a no-talent hack.

The odds are against this film being good, but I'll hope for the best.

Sorry, didn't get that. FORUMS are about voicing your opinion.

After Scream 1 they took the "hip and modern" thing to the extremes, leaving us with cruddy movies but good looking casts that belong in a Tommy Hilfiger commercial. Ten bucks says Josh hartnett will be the werewolf.

Sorry Chaoster... didn't mean to be rude. But if you're not intrested I really dont see a point in posting. I dont think you post in every thred you're not intrested in telling that you're not intrested... get it?... I hardly do..:)

There is a point - If a thread leaves you INDIFFERENT or not. If it does, then, you are right - why bother?

No hard feelings!

Good God, this shit has got Neve Campbell in it. Shouldn't they be worrying about the lead werewolf guy before the other parts? Oh yeah, this is Wes "I'll put anybody famous in my movie to make a buck" Craven we're talking about here.

Kevin wrote a fun, scary and surprise filled script just like the original 'Scream.'

Will this just throw all of the werewolf rules out the door to stand out? Here are some potential quotes from the flick.........

"Full Moons? It's just a myth. Werewolves are triggered by an overcast day and a 20% chance of showers."

"Silver bullets do nothing. If you want to kill a werewolf, make him watch reruns of Silver Spoons."

"You're beginning to sound like you're in some John Dante flick" (as the obligitory homage to werewolf movies The Howling and American Werewolf in London).

We'll see how it turns out. I will be looking forward to it.

Here is some updated casting news that I grabbed from Empire movies.

Christina Ricci has been cast as the lead in Dimension Films' horror thriller "Cursed," which reunites Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, the team behind the studio's hugely successful "Scream" franchise.

The throwback to classic horror tales follows three strangers whose fates collide on a moonlit night in contempo Los Angeles. Scott Foley ("Scream 3", "Felicity") and Omar Epps ("Dracula 2000") also have enlisted for co-starring roles.

Other cast members include Kristina Anapau, Scott Baio, James Brolin, Illeana Douglas, Jesse Eisenberg, Robert Forster, Judy Greer, Milo Ventimiglia and Corey Feldman

Looks like Neve is out of it.

I never thought I'd see Robert Forster and Corey Feldman in the same movie together.

Illeana Douglas is awesome. Loved her in Stir of Echoes. It's a shame she doesn't get many leading roles; Grace of My Heart (non-horror) rocks!

I agree. It was sad to see her slumming on The Drew Carey Show as it was on the downside of its run. She was also awesome in Six Feet Under. She brings a little flair to her roles, taking the film/TV up another notch.

The Drew Carey Show wasn't bad, but the absolute rock bottom was her role in "The New Guy". I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would, but you could see the "Just doin' it for the paycheck" in Illeana's eyes. Having said that, I'm all for any movie that has Lyle Lovett getting a flaming marshmallow in the eye! :D

She was great in Ghost World:

What can you tell, us about your piece... uh...(struggles to read signature)... Phillip?

Uh... it's uh... it's about The Mutilator...

ROBERTA
My goodness!

It's this really great video gameabout a guy who kills people with a big hammer...

Classic stuff. :D

I agree. I liked the show. When Illeana appeared, it was on its way down though. She did add a little flair as the 'save the animals and the world' mentality.

I must agree with the negative responses to this movie: it's going to suck. Wes Craven is just Hollywood's butt boy in the horror field.

I actually think Kevin Williamson will be able to do something fun with this - I mean, aside from all the rip-offs, Scream WAS fun! I think people have forgotten just how smart it actually was. And Christina Ricci is enough for me to see it. Let's just hope that this won't be a phone-in like Scream 3 or any of those awful "Wes Craven Presents" films we get from Dimension. I for one am pretty excited :)

This movie could go either way for me. Wes has really slipped recently and become very "corporate", trying too hard to appeal to a young, "hip" audience. But on that note, his cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back suggests that he's sort of aware of this on some level, so hey, you never know. The fact of the matter is: Wes Craven has directed a handleful of truly masterful movies spread out over his career, and that is enough reason for me to be interested in any project that comes along from him....well excluding all that "Wes Craven Presents" crap. :D

Ultimately, the trailer will be the deciding factor on whether or not I see it in the theatres.

I love it when before a film has even begun shooting, I can predict its going to suck massive cock. What more proof do I need? Directed by Craven who lost his touch many, many years ago ANd scripted by Williamson, the douchebag responsible for Dawson's Crap among other stinkers. At least I know what to avoid so I dont waste my money.
