January 31: HILLS HAVE EYES coming on Anchor Bay DVD
The wait is over: Anchor Bay Entertainment has officially secured the DVD rights to Wes Craven’s classic THE HILLS HAVE EYES, and will release a deluxe two-disc set this September. “We’re giving it the NEAR DARK treatment,” says the company’s Michael Felsher, who says that the movie will be newly remastered with fresh Dolby and DTS soundtracks. Extras have yet to be determined, but Anchor Bay hopes to provide audio commentaries, onscreen interviews and more. Watch this space for further details.

Damn good news!! Except for the fact that all the good stuff has to come out at once, and break us. Isn't Dawn or Day coming out in August?

Nuts! Aug-Oct. will once again be quite a drain on the horror fan't pocket.
We've got a slew of MGM titles coming in Aug, most likely another Paramount horror slate in Sept, and then possibly Fox's horror slate in Oct. Not to mention the stuff that the other companies (Anchor Bay, Blue Underground, Shriek Show, etc.) will likely release during that time.
Of course, I guess this is a good thing that we've got so much coming at us at one time. Just gonna be an expensive fall to be a horror fan. :)
That all being said, I can't wait to own The Hills Have Eyes. :D

Maybe the second disk will be The Hills Have Eyes 2, packaged with The Hills Have Eyes as a 2 in 1 kinda deal like how Hellraiser 1 and 2 were packaged. That'd be cool. ;)

Great news. I have part 2 on disc and while its certainly not one of the best horror flicks I've seen, it still has a certain charm to it that I enjoy. I cant wait to see the killer job AB does on the original though. This is great news.

Well, not sure watchig it on DVD will ever compare with seeing it in the cinema, when it first came out. :)
Anyway - AB just made sales left and right. I'll be getting it. no doubt.

I actually kinda like THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2.
For the record, THE HILLS HAVE EYES was the first VHS tape I ever bought, way back in the 7th grade. It was a crappy EP Starmaker copy, and I got it at Montgomery Wards. I also grabbed THOU SHALT NOT KILL... EXCEPT at the same time, due to remembering a small article I read about it in Fango. Anything was Raimi was a-ok by me.

BREAKING NEWS: AB will release this in a limited ed. of only 200 copies. Then later will re-release this in a coll. ed. with 1000 copies. Then after that they will re-re-release this as an "eyes" version with 10000 copies. Then after that they will re-re-re-release this as another bootleg ed. with extra added bonus material.:D
