Bubba Ho-Tep 2

I do hope this one does make it , as it sounds promising . I love to see Bruce Campell as the King again , as Bubba Ho-tep is now one of my favorite films and love to see a sequal .

Read it hear - http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/ind...plate=newsfull

walkingdude 10-11-2004 06:39 PM

Bruce Campbell's acting is the only thing that saved the first one.Forget part 2 and get back to the EWvil Dead basics.Groovy!

agreed the first time i saw bubba ho tep i thought what a waste of time but boy on my 2nd and 3rd viewing it was totally freakin awesome so i had to rush out and get the dvd which was hard to get when it first came to dvd in may now even walmart has it for 14$$$$$$$$$ so i do hope the sequel
Bubba Nosferatu comes out "hail to the king baby"

Mortis 10-11-2004 07:39 PM

I thought Bubba Ho-Tep was one of the best movies I've ever seen since the first time I saw it.

walkingdude 10-11-2004 07:42 PM

One of the best?Did you ever see a movie called Dawn of the Dead? How about Day of the Dead? You do live in Pittsbugh.

life_o_petey 10-11-2004 07:43 PM

definitely one of the best movies of the past few years. i don't want to see a sequel, though.

Morg 10-11-2004 08:03 PM

Cool. As long as Don Coscarelli and Bruce Campell are involved, then I'm A-OK with it.

Skull Hunter 10-11-2004 08:40 PM

I don't know about a sequel on this one. The dvd sold very poorly despite being limited edition packaging. I held out on getting it when it was first released but picked it up just this weekend for 11 bucks at walmart. Haven't seen it yet so I don't know how good or bad it is. I bought it because of Bruce Campbell mainly and hopes of a good story as I've never liked Coscarelli's stuff and I hated Phantasm so if this is slightly average or better I'll be happy with what I paid for it.

hated Phantasm?? thats just wrong.

SaviniFan 10-11-2004 09:34 PM

Now that it can be had for cheap I'll pick Bubba Ho-Tep up. I've been holding off because the price was too much for me to do a blind buy.

I have been waiting to buy it too but I feel the time has come. I would very much like to see a sequel. I am a huge Elvis fan and thought Bruce did a good and funny job of capturing the king in his later years.

Mortis 10-12-2004 01:15 AM

Luckily I can respect someone else's opinion(s).

Bubba Ho-Tep was probably the best blind buy I ever made, I enjoy it more with every viewing. The perfect alternative to Hollywood big budget crapfests and one of the most original films I'd seen in a long time. I find something new in the film each time I watch.

allmessedup 10-12-2004 05:48 PM

I rented it on netflix but I don't know if I want to own it. The story is good [love Lansdale's stuff] but I think its appeal is somewhat limited.

Silent Noize 10-12-2004 07:11 PM

I liked the movie. It was alot better then most of that mainstream hollywood shit. Bubba Nosferatu could be really good too. I guess it would center around the Sebastien Haff character insted though.

Please don't get Mortis started on Dawn of the Dead. :p

Mark Relford 10-12-2004 10:47 PM

Another Bubba sounds good to me. It would be nice to have Lansdale involved with the story.

Wouldn't you love to see a movie version of On the Far Side of the Cadillac Desert with Dead Folks? :D

evildeadfan123 10-12-2004 11:12 PM

Another Bubba does need to be made. I bought the DVD about 3 days after it came out. Bruce Campbell is funny in it. And Bruce doing the commentary as Elvis is even funnier.

allmessedup 10-12-2004 11:43 PM

I'm not a big Bruce fan so the movie probably didn't appeal to me as much as it did a lot of other people. Still...I loved seeing Lansdale adapted for the screen.

A guy on another board said the big problem he had with the movie was that he just couldn't get into a movie where the heroes are a couple of geriatrics---it was just a little too slow for him. I think he missed the point a little bit, though. I would probably give it a 7.5 or an 8.

"So they think thats me, huh? Look at those big fat cheeks. I sure hope this actor isnt really that fat. Bru... Bruce Campbell? hmm...I think i'll skip his next few movies."
:p

Mortis 10-13-2004 12:09 AM

I missed that post. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. :D

Yes I have. It's only my most favorite movie ever. Hell, I went to Monroeville Mall last night just to ride the elevator again. Ofcourse I've seen them all. Why do you think I said one of the best?

Forgive me just being a smart ass.I envy you I would very much like to go to the Monroeville Mall. That is actually the name of my ebay store.I guess I was just expecting more from Bubba Ho-tep.A little tame for me.I didn't read up on it much before I saw it.

Mortis 10-13-2004 12:53 AM

I remember Bruce telling us about it a few years ago at his book signing. Then about two years ago Michael Felsher told us about the Elvis commentary. The whole idea of the movie appealed to me because I'm always down for something different. Bruce definitely made the movie, though. I liked Ossi, but the movie wouldn't have been shit without Bruce.

I missed that book signing too but my girlfriend went to it in Nashville for me so I at least got the book but I would much rather have been there myself.Bruce did make that movie for sure.

I remember that too. I was pretty perplexed at first as he started the description with something like "I'm playing Elvis, with penis cancer. Then me and black JFK fight a mummy."

H0MOSareGAY 10-15-2004 06:52 AM

I think a sequel would really mess up the plot of the first movie since
Spoiler:
Both main characters die.
and a prequel would seem out of place. If this did happen, I'd want JFK back, he was a fun character. I loved Bubba, though. Excellent movie.

dwatts 01-26-2005 05:53 AM

Having just seen the first film, I would without a doubt buy a sequel. There's huge scope for another one I reckon.

Spoiler:
And really, I don't think it's too much of a cheat for Elvis NOT to have died in the first one.

Mortis 01-26-2005 09:16 AM

The question is who actually did die? I liked how they played that aspect of the film out.

H0MOSareGAY, I love twizzlers, but have not had one in ages :(

I'm with Mortis on this, I don't think the ending was so cut and dried, and I assumed it was open to a sequel in just about every way. Isn't every film made this way these days? :D

Spoiler:
Regardless, all the souls fly out of the Mummy's mouth at the end, so couldn't they just re-enter the bodies of the freshly dead?

Anyway, it's a silly movie, silly things happen in silly movies. I'm sure they could come up with something.

fceurich39 01-26-2005 06:22 PM

I Hope The Sequel Gets Made I Loved The First One Bubba-nosferatu

Mortis 01-26-2005 06:51 PM

We agree on something? I think the world is going to end. :D

Bruce Campbell just announced on a radio show that he is not in part 2.

Ron Perlman
will be Elvis. And Paul Giamatti as Colonel Tom Parker

Bobbywoodhogan 10-31-2008 04:08 PM

No Bruce campbell, not interested

Same.

fceurich39 10-31-2008 04:35 PM

Why isn't bruce going to do this anyone know?

X-human 10-31-2008 04:35 PM

Ron Perlman? Great guy but now it's not even remotely possible that he's really Elvis. The whole point was that you could believe Bruce really was The King trapped in a nursing home were everyone thinks he's crazy. It left you wondering if he was a reliable narrator.

Now he's just plain ole crazy.

He said in the interview: (He was on the Opie & Anthony Show on XM, there was two other comedian guests there too)

Why are you not in the sequel?

Bruce said "it was because of the story" (and he sorta laughed) and the guys went "oh ok". Anthony goes, "Is this story about money" Bruce laughs. Then a comic guest said "Is it gonna be like Clam Cake?

And Bruce says, "Yea, it was gonna be like Clam Bake and I didn't want to be a part of it. Its going to be a long boring story"

If you ask me (and you had to hear it) it was about money. It was the way he laughed and the guys interviewing took it.

Workshed 10-31-2008 06:07 PM

I cannot imagine Bruce asking for more money than Ron Perlman.

Bruce has stated that he and Don C. did not see eye-to-eye about the direction of the sequel.
