sequels that are better than the original?

What sequels do you think are better than the original?
1. Aliens
2. Phantasm 2

Aliens is by far the best sequel from any series. That is one kick ass movie that I can watch over and over. Alien was a good movie, but there is no topping Aliens. Nope, I'm sorry it can't be done! :)

The Empire Strikes Back is a superior film to Star Wars, IMHO.....

I enjoyed Lethal Weapon 2 even more than the original.

Superman 2 was more enjoyable than Superman.

I actually preferred Predator 2 to Predator (but I love them both).

The debate rages over the Terminator films. It's a close call. Same with the first two Godfather films.

I still love Phantasm, and think Phantasm 2 was nowhere near as good, but that's just my opinion.

As for better sequels.......umm, probably Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Probably my favorite slasher flick. I dunno why.

Aliens
Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
(though 1 was all that)
Empire Strikes Back
Terminator 2

Alien Resurrection is my fave of the entire series, I'm a sucker for foreign flare in cinema, though. For me this was simply a great film.

New Nightmare is hands down the best of the series, though part one is excellent.

I agree that ESB is SUPERIOR to STAR WARS. Also I enjoyed Superman 2 better as well, though I still like all but part 4.

I can't STAND T2, but think TERMINATOR is one of the best movies. The first one, in my opinion, is MILES ahead of T2.

Godfather 1 & 2 is a tough one. I'd lean SLIGHTLY on the second one. The part where Michael looks at Fredo and grits out, "You broke my heart..." DAMN!! Just powerful!!!!!!

I kinda like DEMONS 2 more than the first one too!

Can't believe no one's mentioned The Road Warrior yet

A lot of kung-fu films are "sequels" (usually because they just place a "2" at the end of the title) and improve on the original. Armour of God 2, Drunken Master 2, and (arguably) Project A 2

I think Dr. No is my least favorite James Bond movie, and all 18 sequels are better (well, except A View to a Kill maybe)

Evil Dead 2
Silence of the Lambs (I know, I know, sort of a sequel, sort of not)
...And I'm sorry, but none of the Phatasm sequels can hang with the original.
