This looks like it could be cheesy fun. No release date announced state side just yet.

The plot synopsis:

St. Niklas, a bishop fallen out of grace, who travels in the middle ages with his gang of robbers and thieves through the countryside, raping, plundering and killing. When villagers take the law into their own hands and murder the bloodthirsty bishop and his thugs by setting the ship on which they travel ablaze, Niklas vows revenge.

Now every time there is a full moon on December 5, the date he died, something that on average takes place every 36 years, St. Niklas and his helpers will rise from the dead and take revenge in a horrible way.

Fun trailer. The Claus mythos seems perfect for reexamination.

This one actually created quite some controversy in Holland. Some dumb Parents association wanted to boycott it. Best publicity this film could get if you ask me :)

Looks like there's also a Finnish film coming out with a darker take on Santa too.

Sint is directed by Dick Maas, the guy who made The Lift and Amsterdamned.

Just done watching the German Blu-ray and I enjoyed the movie. I would say it's solid, and not really cheesy. Well-made bloody kills (old school) and some nice action at display. Lots of snow, too.
Worth checking out.

Very well made movie. Now I wish they would release The Lift and Amsterdamned on DVD/BR.

I saw it on Netflix (probably last year) and didn't care much for it. Nowhere near as good as Rare Exports.

I enjoyed it too. The Canadian Blu-ray also looks fantastic, and has lossless audio. It also has a Featurette which the US DVD release lacks.

I didn't realize there was a Canadian Blu-ray. I almost bought the DVD on Amazon.com when they dropped the price for a short while but I still held off. Not a bad price for the Blu either, may even total to be cheaper then Amazon's DVD.

The Canadian Blu-ray just uses the title Saint. The US DVD uses the title Saint Nick — to sound more Christmassy I suppose.

It does have bilingual (English/French) coverart, but I'd say the chances of a US Blu-ray coming out anytime soon are nil.
