Media Blasters Finally, and Officially, Announces Godzilla Acquisitions
 

An official announcement has finally been made by Media Blasters via their facebook page: "Talking about Godzilla we can make it official now, we have DAM and Godzilla vs. Megalon. DAM is scheduled for October and will be both Blu-Ray and DVD releases. Do not know all the details about the extras yet. We will post with it later as they become available. Now for the funny part, we were not looking at Godzilla vs. Megalon till everyone said we have it so we asked they said ok so we picked it up."

EXCELLENT! I love those films. I'm really looking forward to MEGALON since that was the most amusing film. I don't understand why it's been so maligned on DVD so far.

Even though Megalon won't be coming to Blu, I'm still really looking forward to both!

Thankfully, Toho has already restored and remastered all the Godzilla films in HD (which should prevent any BEYOND THE DARKNESS style snafus, since they'll surely be providing Media Blasters with an already created master), and they have produced supplements for them which, if past Media Blasters releases are any indication, will be happily ported over.

I totally forgot Godzilla Vs Megalon was coming out! I remember reading on this blog...:

Destroy All Monsters

When I heard people on facebook initially talking about, I thought, what the hell is this DAM they keep referring to? It was just by accident, from someone who wrote it out, DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, that I finally put two and two together. D'Oh! :o

i wish both godzilla 1985 and godzilla vs biollante would come out on dvd maybe when the new american version comes out hopefully if not then probably never

August Ragone says this about GODZILLA '85: "The rights to GODZILLA 1985 (the US cut) are a little more problematic, since there are parties that they that they own it, while Toho denies their claims. Meanwhile, the Japanese version, RETURN OF GODZILLA, is up for grabs.'

I also learned, nothing official, mind you, just facebook talk, that Echo Bridge owns BIOLLANTE and they're trying to get it released. I sent emails out to them, have to just wait and see if anyone bothers to respond.

I'm glad they are releasing it. That means the disc will be affordable. As long as its widescreen and has both english and Japanese tracks I'll be happy.

Lets hope the deliver some decent transfers.
