"Maniac" Remake in Production: Elijah Wood signs on.
Well, it's confirmed...they're remaking one of Horror's most prized entries.
Elijah Wood and Nora Arnezeder, will take on the roles that Joe Spinell and Caroline Munro gave us 30 years earlier. Franck Khalfoun ("P2") directs from a script by Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur ("High Tension", "Piranha 3D"). Wood will shoot the role after he wraps his work on "The Hobbit". http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/223...ller-in-maniac Not exactly sure how I feel about this. If they have the balls, to rate this NC-17 or Unrated...then we'll talk. -UJ |
I know how I feel about this. It sounds really lame. The only thing that would make this passable is a hard R rating. Why Elijah Wood? He sucks.

November Fool's Day?! Please??!!!
|
Normally I'm all for remakes but Maniac belongs to Joe Spinell. Sorry Frodo, don't even try.
|
Why not Justin Bieber and Vanessa Hudgens? They'll pack 'em in like there's no tomorrow. That's what they're really after, right? Putting asses in seats in droves. They should even go the PG-13 route. Add a wisecracking rapper for maximum potential.

I don't know what I like less, the original or the fact that yet another lame remake is in the works... :]
|
this is a joke right?
|
Interesting concept. This is why I like it imo.
a) I like the guys behind the production. b) In the minority , but never really liked the original, quite boring imo, I welcome a fresh different take. c) Intriguing idea of the Elijah Wood casting ... See Sin City. He can do it & I bet will surprise most people. |
...the fuck?
|
Elijah Wood doing the sweaty, blue collar, war vet, Spinell thing? i like him and all but that wont work. Instead it will end up some yuppie crap ala American psycho teritory. The type of role James Spade did indeed play in the past.
|
Another film that definitely does not need to be remade.
Why don't they just initiate a new slasher franchise using elements from these old films? |
Oh my god. Please say this is not true. First Evil Dead remake, now this. I never did like the Lord Of The Ring movies, and this sounds like it's going to blow. I will pass on this, but I will probably go see the Evil Dead remake, since Sam and Robert are involved in it, at least.

Damn.........just,... damn..........
|
I was never much of a fan of the original. Not much of an Elijah Wood fan either (although I did like him in Wilfred), so I don't really care about this one way or the other. Most likely won't even check it out as a rental.

American cinema is so dead.
