Best THE EXORCIST (1973) knock-offs?
I have not seen THE EXORCIST or any of it's sequels. I will resolve that this coming October. I'd also like to mix in some the best knock-offs for my holiday viewing. Feel free to include films that weren't released on DVD.

I know these films are old, but no spoilers please. Thanks

NEVER seen the Exorcist?! .........wow.

Amityville II: The Possession-Sleazy and exploitative, but entertaining and pretty creepy. Starts off as standard haunted house fare but detours into Exorcist territory for the final act.
Scared the heck out of me when I saw it as a kid on cable.

Here's a few recommendations of the top of my head.

Seytan (Turkish Exorcist)
Beyond the Door
Audrey Rose
The Pyx
The Antichrist

I need to visit the Blu-ray as well (which I own) since I haven't seen The Exorcist since my first viewing when I was twelve and my Grandpa happened to be over and was relaying stories of people he knew who had exorcisms performed on them from way back in the day. That's a first time viewing experience I will never ever forget. So yes, due for a revisit ASAP.

it's such a great film, if I were you I wouldn't wait till October. But if themed viewing means that much to you, then you could also check out:

Exorcism (Paul Naschy)
Lisa and the Devil/The House of Exorcism

also, Stigmata with Gabriel Byrne and Patricia Arquette was an Exorcist rip-off.

I rented Demonoid: Messenger of Death as few days ago thinking that it was going to be an Exorcist knock off. Turned out, it was the best crawling hand film that I've ever seen!

Yeah dude! That flick was awesome! Hilarious stuff. I picked up the Video Treasures VHS of it a few months back at Goodwill. Two thumbs up.

I have had the AB DVD of this one for awhile, but I just threw it in last night for a spin. Terrible…even for Italian rip-off standards. Watered down, dull, zero atmosphere…absolutely worthless not only as an exorcist cash-in, but also just as a film in general. There's about a 5min segment within the movie where the lead uses the word "cock" at least 50 times peppered throughout her dialog.

It probably would have been easier to sit through if there were some hot Italian chicks getting naked,...but mainly we just see the lead in undress, and she is fuuuuuuuuuuuugly. Short blond hair, massive amount of freckles, and some jacked up teeth. She looks better when she is possessed!

The only thing this movie has going for it is it's score by Ennio Morricone. Other than that, I’d stay away from this one.
