Preorders now up for February's batch of Scream Factory titles. Both are Blu/DVD combo packs.

Terrorvision is a must have. Caught it by accident years ago on Showtime and loved it. Have a DL of it, but want a DVD or Blu.

I've been drooling in antici... pation of Terrorvision since it was announced. I hope it has dedicated extras. I don't care about The Video Dead; it's crap.
|
looking forward to the video dead finally on a digital format (and blu no less), certanly did not expect a double bill, not a fan of terrorvision (not seen it in fucking agesthough), so will give it another viewing, colour me pleased with announcment

It's a double-dose of '80s trash, courtesy of Shout's Scream Factory!
In Ted Nicolaou's TERRORVISION (1986), the Putterman's new satellite dish gets reception that's out of this world. Literally. Things get ugly when they beam in an intergalactic spacedog that eats everything in sight, be it food, trash, or family member. Campy, colorful, and completely stupid, this latex-heavy Empire Production is about as decade-centric as it gets, with a great cast including Diane Franklin, Mary Woronov and Gerrit Graham. There's more TV-themed terror in Robert Scott's THE VIDEO DEAD (1987), as an errant delivery lands a supernatural television in the suburbs, where it unleashes a gang of evil dead set on dropping property value. A gory, low-budget, metaphysical zombie flick that's more fun than it has any right to be -- or at least it was when I was 14, which was the last time I watched it. Hope it holds up! Apparently determined to make all horror fans poor, Shout's Scream Factory line continues with Renny Harlin's PRISON (1988)! Thirty years after a wrongful electrocution, budget cuts force Wyoming State Penitentiary to reopen its doors. Breaching the sealed execution chamber, the new inmates release a vengeful, bloodthirsty force and before you know it, population is down due to reanimated barbed-wire antics, possessed pipe impalements, prisoner flambé and more. A pre-stardom Viggo Mortensen appears as a car thief with a mysterious past who potentially knows the connection between this haunted jailhouse and its former warden, and may have a few secrets of his own. One of Empire's best films, PRISON remains a serious, atmospheric, and gruesome time, stylishly directed by Harlin right before he stepped things up with DIE HARD 2. Labeled a Collector's Edition by the company, I imagine this'll have a full slate of supplements. Deservedly so.

none of the released so far, that I have bought, have been region free. There is also a function that makes automatic reading of region impossible, so you have to set a region free player to A before inserting

I read in the review that the dvd of Video Dead freezes up.
|
could care less about any of these turkeys.. seen em in the 80's and didnt like em then..
|
I still can't believe these two films are getting this kind of treatment. And what a perfect pairing for a double feature!
Fucking stoked. |
