Horror Convention in South Florida

This is going on next weekend in my area. Lots of great guests, but I'm not an autograph hound, so it doesn't really excite me much and for some reason, they aren't listing any events yet, which really bugs me. I'm waiting to see if the guests are doing any panels, because for $25 a day, it isn't worth it to watch some lame films, meet some guests who want $25+ for autographs and see a dealer room with vendors that aren't all horror associated. I posted, because a lot of you are interested in the autographs and such.

I still like the guest list and Camille Keaton still looks good.

This is shaping up to be a good one in NJ this August...

What about Vernon Wells?

Shannafey 06-10-2013 12:44 AM

I saw him there, but even thought Road Warrior is one of my all time fav films, I'm not a big autograph hound. I get autographs when I get something for the money. Linnea had her DVD autographed for $25. That was worth it to me. Vernon didn't seem to friendly to me. I wore an Army of Darkness shirt and actually had a few of the guests call me over and ask me about it, like Danny Hicks and Timothy Quill. Ernie Hudson was a gentlemen. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet!

I'm not an autograph hound myself either, but I'd love a picture with him. What makes you think he's not that friendly? Did you approach him at all?

Probably a little unfair to say he was unfriendly, it was just that he was sitting there messing with his phone not really caring about anything around him, whereas everyone else was very friendly and interactive. I should have talked to him, but I really didn't care. I wasn't really talking to anyone. I just walked around to take a peek at everyone and it blew me away that Linnea just started talking to me. She was such a sweetheart!

I went to Spooky Empire's first May-Hem in 2011, and met Ted Raimi, and I thought he was a little stand offish, but at least he wasn't messing with his phone, and I got two separate autographs from Ted as Henrietta in Evil Dead 2, and when he guest starred in the Wishing Well Season 4 episode of Supernatural. I also got autographs of Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker, Theresa Tilly, and Hal Delrich at the same convention. They were all super nice, and Betsy Baker and Ellen Sandweiss also autographed their tattoos with a black sharpee, and then I had them tattooed in.

To this day the most unfriendly person I've met at a convention is Tom Savini (which is unfortunate because I am a big fan). Linnea Quiggley was indeed one of the friendliest, she even gave me her AOL screen name so she could chat with me (I think she thought I was cute, I was only about 21 at the time haha). I think we chatted once or twice. Another really friendly person was E.G. Daily.

Met Savini 3 or 4 times and everytime was a good experience.
