Is this a case of the artwork being better than the actual films? I enjoyed the first one but haven't seen the sequels, mainly because I haven't heard good things about them. Might be worth a blind buy if the price is right.

Part 2 is generally considered better than part 1, but I like them about the same. Part 3 was not as good as the first 2, but has some fun performances by Jackie Earle Haley and Robert Forster. I'll be buying them both though to replace the old full screen DVDs.

they have the sleeves on dreadcental, it notes that part 3 will be the unrated cut, but not part 2, I wonder why? interested in both.

I could be wrong, but I believe the R-rated version of Maniac Cop 2 is technically the uncut version of the film.

from IMDB for maniac cop 2 :- Some of the violence was trimmed to get an "R" rating, most notably the police station massacre.

The only way Maniac Cop 2 could be an better from the sounds of blu ray.com's review is if the unrated print was featured somewhere, still gonna get it though. much prefer this to the first film, not sure yet if i'll get the 3rd, we will see.

the director has put it out himself so how do we know its not unrated, has it been mentioned somewhere? could he only find a film print of this cut? Is there much difference?

both 2 and 3 were cut, they are releasing part 3 uncut and have an UNCUT display on the sleeve, so if 2 was to be released uncut I think they would have advertised it, not sure exactly what was cut, but it is noted on IMDB as 'Some of the violence was trimmed to get an "R" rating, most notably the police station massacre'.

Blu-Ray.com Review for Maniac Cop 3: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Maniac.../75426/#Review

The Tall Man 12-01-2013 12:48 AM

Watched Maniac Cop 2 last night and thought it was excellent. I have the original on Bluray and have seen it many times but for some reason I had never bothered to watch part 2, I heard years ago it was crap. Well, I'm glad my first time watching it was in 1080P and widescreen because it really is better than the first movie in my opinion. The review here is spot on, the picture quality is outstanding, and some of the stunts in that movie looked downright dangerous !

I am now looking forward to part 3 which I may watch tonight, although after reading the review I know it wont be up to part 2's high standard.
