Classic/Famous Horror Films You Don't Like

I got inspired to make this thread after reading through the "Famous horror films you haven't seen" thread.
Basically I see this as listing any horror films that are well regarded, praised or deemed classics that you couldn't really care less about, don't like or just plain hate.

Off the top of my head:

Night of the Living Dead
The Shining
Rosemary's Baby
Silence of the Lambs
Last House on the Left
They Live
The Hills Have Eyes (1&2)
Motel Hell

I'll admit it has been a while since I've seen Night so I'm probably due to re-visit it but every time I sit though this one I find myself falling asleep. Maybe my taste have changed as it's been years since I've seen it making it the only title I'm not 100% about.

The others I find boring and just don't enjoy them. They have their moments but it's not enough for me to want to revisit them or add them to my collection. I find The Shining very overrated.

There's likely more titles to add but that's all I can think of for now. Lets hear what others think :)

I understand the original LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT's place in horror history but I have never personally cared for it.

I have to agree. That's another one I don't care for too. I blind bought the UK ultimate edition set and have only watched it once.

A few off the top of my head:

Re-Animator (so much awesome gore but it still puts me to sleep)
From Beyond
Candyman
Lord of Illusions
Every Friday the 13th after the first one
Burnt Offerings (even the amazing cast couldn't keep me engaged)
The Changeling (It's been a while since I last saw it. I'm willing to give this one another shot)
Most Herschell Gordon Lewis films (I do love The Gore Gore Girls though)
In the Mouth of Madness (Again, haven't seen it since its release. I'm a huge JC fan so I'm willing to give it another spin)
They Live (I've tried. Multiple times. I love the concept, but I found the execution to be piss poor, largely due to the fact that Roddy Piper couldn't act his way out of a wet fart)

Argento's Deep Red

Hellraiser, and any Clive Barker in general, is over rated.

Cujo108 03-19-2014 02:30 PM

Poltergeist
Creepshow
Prom Night
Halloween II
Opera
Scream
The Stuff
It's Alive
Blood and Black Lace
The Lost Boys
Squirm

While I do like it overall, I find Halloween pretty overrated. Absolutely hated part II though.

Suspiria. I'd watch Zombie Lake back to back before sitting through that again.

I definitely agree with They Live. I think it's very overrated. I was bored sitting though this one. I felt like it took too long to get going and then never went anywhere that interesting.

Most of your other picks make me sad though, same with the last 3 posts below

I don't bother anymore with films "by the creators of Paranormal Activity" because I've seen enough of their product to know better. I love it when the ads use that line as a selling point. It saves me time, energy, and money. Unfortunately, that's the kind of crap that sells nowadays so I wind up spending most of my time looking for forgotten classics on VHS rather than checking out new stuff.

Poltergeist
Creepshow
Prom Night
Halloween II
Opera
Basket Case
It's Alive
The Stuff
From Beyond
Blood and Black Lace
Squirm
The Descent
Shaun of the Dead
Inside
The Host
The Saw series

While I'm a fan overall, I find Halloween quite overrated. Absolutely hated II.

I've never seen a Paranormal Activity movie. Horror films that are overpromoted are "usually" shit. The Purge, Blair Witch, any of the thousands of Exorcist ripoffs over the past two decades fit into this category for me. They could all be great, but when the bullshit commercials come on about how "this film" is the most horrifying experience since World War I, I tend to walk away. I'm happy to take the advice of you guys instead.

I've mentioned these in another thread but THE BURNING and MADMAN are two whose adoration I just don't understand. It's very difficult for me to sit through either of them, which is odd since they are both early 80s American slashers--one of my favorite genres!

Oh yeah, and anything from Hammer. That whole over-lit Gothic melodrama thing. Yuck.

While I totally agree, I still enjoy the first two movies quite a bit.

Carnival of Souls - I found this mostly boring.
Hellraiser - I have no idea why I don't like this great movie

I'm sure there are a few more that I can't think of right now.

edit: I don't like the Saw franchise much at all.
