Blood Feast 2
I just saw a theatrical screening of this film. I was very excited to check it out, especially since there is a DVD coming out soon. I vaguly remember "Blood Feast" but it's safe to say that it was a more effective film. In 1963, it must have been quite the shock to see such grand guignol type violence. The comedy surly didn't diminish the gore scenes.
"Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat" was along the same lines but not as effective. The comedy was slapstick and wallowed in self parody to the point where the violence seemed somewhat incapable of grossing me out (even though it was very graphic). Overall, I did enjoy the movie. Fans of HGL and ultra-gore will love this film for sure. However, if you are looking for something disturbing then you won't find it here. I'd say it's a cross between "The Naked Gun" and HGL's earlier work. Now I want to re-watch his earlier works because it's been a while since I last saw them. |

Naked Gun?
![]() The tongue removal scene from Blood Feast still manages to repulse me.

I got to see it last year at what I believe was the world premiere
The great man himself was there which was pretty cool.It was a work print and I thought it was a bit long, they needed to trim some of the stuff in the middle with the bungling cops cos it got a bit irritating. Other than that I thought it was great, any HGL fan is guaranteed to like it as it's the same stuff as Blood Feast, 2000 Maniacs, etc. I nearly shat myself laughing at the opening scene. The homeless guys better be still in the finished cut. |

The homeless guys are in the finished cut. I have to admit, as time goes on the film is growing on me - not that I didn't like it in the first place.

No-one else comes close to the Grand Guignol ethos. HG Lewis even ran a Grand Guignol-like space in Chicago, in the late-60s, called the "Horror Shack" I believe. André de Lorde would have been proud to know he has begotten such a kindered spirit. I thought "Blood Feast 2" would show up at our annual Fantasia Film Festival, but it doesn't look like it will. We'll know for sure tomorrow when the complete schedule is released.

I'm really looking forward to this movie's release on DVD.
I watched the first film on Mark's recommendation (cheers!) and this long awaited sequel sounds like it'll appeal to me, too.

I got a surprise for you guys in honor of Lewis' return.
You'll shit your pants guaranteed, but you got to sit tight for another day or so.
