Post You might want to drop a note to DVD File re: Madman :)

"Other spec updates include a change to yesterday's announcement of Madman from Anchor Bay. Alas, the disc will not be anamorphic, though it still will be 1.85;1 widescreen."

...when obviously it is... I'll take the word of someone who actually has the disc over an announcement any day.

I already did, actually. I made the same mistake at first, but then I updated the review after Anchor Bay reminded me it was non-anamorphic.

Non Anamorphic!!! HUH? I dont get it. These guys actually did a anamorphic transfer on films that were 1.66 to even TV size stuff, but couldnt on this film? Why?

Another thing to note is that this is NOT an anamorphic transfer. The reason is because the transfer was actually completed a long time ago, before Anchor Bay started doing anamorphic transfers. The title has had numerous delays for various reasons, and is only now being released.
Reasonable explanation. Hey, if Fox isn't going to go back and remaster Planet of the Apes, you can expect Anchor Bay to go back and remaster Madman.

Looks like I misread your message. My review clearly stated that Madman DVD is NOT ANAMORPHIC! I even explained why it wasn't in the Image Quality section...though I noticed that I left "16x9: Yes" down in the specs section - I've updated it now.

The DVD is definitely not anamorphic.

Wow, when I re-read the review early this morning, I was positive it said 'anamorphic' in the Image Quality section, and I don't recall seeing any of that stuff about it being an old transfer. I guess that's what I get for reading stuff right after waking up.

The first day the review was posted it did say that it was anamorphic, so perhaps you're thinking to back then. I updated the review when I got AB's explanation ...
