Watching a horror flick with you chick??!!
Apparently, even if your date doesn't like horror, it can be done! Thanks to the "Top 20 of Chick Flick Horror Movies"! If there are any gory parts your date doesn't much care for, you just hug ... and roll.
I especially like the author's views on Carrie Quote:

I'm pleasantly surprised, shocked even, at the list. I was expecting to see predominantly recent films. (And not a Ginger Snaps to be seen!) I always roll my eyes whenever somebody posts a "Top Whatever" list, but I have to admit, this one's pretty good.

Some of them aren't my speed, but there's a handful of my personal favorites on that list. Very pleased to see Vincent Price at the top!
The Haunting is the best one there in my opinion.I'm lucky in that my wife can't stand romantic comedies and the stereotypical chick flicks. Yeah, she loves to watch her Sex and the City and Melrose Place dvds, but she also loves some pretty extreme horror. One of her favorite movies of all time is The Devil's Rejects. |

Vincent Price is a hit with the ladies, somewhat surprisingly. Whenever you talk about non-current horror Vincent's usually on top of a gal's list of horror fiends.

pfft, why isn’t 'I Spit on your Grave' on this list?!?
On a more serious note, what about the flip side to this question. What are good horror movies to recommend to guys? I lent some guy I work with a copy of the original Day of the Dead, and he returned it without saying anything about the film. Just a ‘oh hey, here’s your movie back’. Which made me a little sad inside cuz that film is near and dear to me. A few weeks ago I was in Hastings and got into a conversation with some dude that said he was looking for a 70s horror film with a cool soundtrack. I was wearing a return of the living dead t-shirt, and carrying around a copy of Rue Morgue, so I guess he figured I would know. I talked him into renting Demons. When I ran into him again, he avoided eye contact. Were those bad recommendations for introductory horror films? What films would you recommend to people that didn’t seemed very versed in horror?

Anyway, my ex wouldn't mind watching spooky movies at all, but she preferred them to be newer. She didn't like "old shit" and wouldn't tolerate any foreign movie even if it was dubbed. But she didn't mind going to horror conventions with me and most of the time requested we watch something scary, so she was OK in that respect. |

Meh, my girlfriend watches every kind of horror flick with me. Any subgenre is cool with her, whether it's supernatural, gore or 80s slasher flicks. When you've got a girl who walks around the house randomly singing that ridiculous "ARE THE STREETS TO BLAME!" song from Fulci's Murderock, you tend to forget how boring most females are.

So Ugetsu was made in 1853? Well, I had no idea!
As long as the list doesn't have trash like the remake of Prom Night on it, I'm fine with it.

The list is okay - but it also means you'll have to find a woman who's willing to watch silent movies, black and white movies, subtitled movies, and movies with actors she's likely never heard of.

The Innocents was a film my gf got me to watch on the basis that its source material is a favorite story of ours: The Turn of the Screw.
Now, she loves the film, but I really hated the ending, such a cop-out compared to James' original ending. Cool idea for a list, though--will give some of these a look (love that DotD made the list!) |

Luckily, I have the best girlfriend ever, so I don't have to "disguise" the horror in horror movies, nor does she ever nag me into watching "chick flicks" or garbage like "Sex and the City." Two of her all-time faves are NOTLD and TCM (the originals of course).
