Anyone heard about this?

I must admit I am curious about the origins of the thing.

CGI... not cool. Unless you belong in the playstation-generation.

The idea of a prequel sounds extremely cool and open to so much.....All I ask is have Carpenter direct and Bottin do the special effects again.....and no goddamn shitty CGI....I want old-school puppets, props, etc..............Larry

It'd be really cool if they get John Carpenter back.

The origin of The Thing was outer space, so they could set it on, say, Mars.
![]() Carpenter won't ever made another truly good horror film, imo. And I'm not sure who could do a reasonable job on such a title - young guys are going to be full of jump scares and fast cutting... something that would have ruined the Carpenter version fo the film. In other words - I know we all like to revisit scenes of great excitement, but this is probably a bad idea... |

Sounds good. I hope this Thing is as badass as Carpenter's.

I too agree that having Carpenter at the helm would be a bad move. I think he's just spent, done, all dried out of talent, and I think he knows this too. As for the fx, I'd want a combination of traditional and CGI. Yes, it would be ideal to use traditional fx whenever possible, but just think of all of the possibilities if they got a really good group of CG animators together. Possibilities are endless.
