Horror Overload

Man, have you guys seen the release slate for the next couple months? There is an INSANE amount of horror films coming out - I don't know how the market is going to sustain it. Not only that, but we get two huge franchises opening head to head next week. Madness!

AUGUST 28
Halloween II
The Final Destination

SEPTEMBER 4
Carriers

SEPTEMBER 11
Sorority Row

SEPTEMBER 18
Jennifer's Body

SEPTEMBER 23
Whiteout
Pandorum

OCTOBER 2
Shutter Island

OCTOBER 9
Zombieland

OCTOBER 16
The Stepfather

OCTOBER 23
Saw VI
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant

That's at least one horror movie a week for the next two months...start saving your cash!

On a side note - what are the Weinstein's thinking? They're in big money trouble and what do they do? Not only do they release their two biggest fall titles one week apart to cannibalize each film's market (Inglorious Basterds and Halloween II) but they also release Halloween II day and date with a more hyped 3D event horror sequel. Sounds like bullheadedness to me on the Weinstein's part, not willing to give up their August date despite it making absolutely no economic sense. Here's a thought...release a Halloween movie in, you know, October! I'm glad it's a Rob Zombie movie, because if it tanks at least the Weinstein's will take a worthy adversary down with them.

I won't be overloaded, because most of these don't interest me whatsoever. The Final Destination (mainly due to the fun 3D) and Shutter Island are the only ones that appear to be worthy of venturing out for. Whiteout (the graphic novels are quite good), Zombieland, and Carriers I'll probably check out come DVD. Everything else I suspect I won't even bother with.

To think that The Wolfman was also supposed to be jammed into that bunch at one point, too...

I'm in for Shutter Island and Zombieland, and this is an impressive offering--plus, think of all the cool Horror DVD releases we have coming up!

Might be a good reason why they did it.

Not to be a wet blanket because I agree that's a hell of a lot of horror, but I'm not the least bit interested in any of those titles. I'm not even going to bother catching them on TV at a later date. Last year had some titles I was a least semi-interested in seeing.

I missed Drag Me to Hell in the theaters so I'll just be picking that up this Halloween season and that'll be my most recent horror to watch.

Not to mention all the releases finally making their way to DVD and Blu in the next few months we've wanted for so long...

I'll be seeing the first seven and eventually the Stepfather remake solely because Amber Heard is in it. I have a sinking feeling that Carriers will be limited, as I haven't seen any TV spots for it. It's been shelved for a long while now, so it's nice that it's finally coming regardless. I'll also be seeing Whiteout for Beckinsale and the Antarctica setting. Never read the graphic novel, so I'll be going in fresh. By the way, you forgot Pandorum.

I may have to reconsider

Some years are kind of dead... This will be the most fun Fall in a while as far as film/dvd releases go.

To piss on the cheerios a bit as well, I probably won't be seeing most of those either. I might check out "The Final Destination" because the wife likes the franchise. Might see "H2" out of morbid curiosity. Aside from those, the only other one that I'll see, that I'm actually excited about, is "Zombieland"

Yep that's pretty much the main reason I'll be seeing this one as well...but the trailer looked decent as well....of course there was a lot of Amber in it.

Also want to see Zombieland, Sorority Row and maybe The Final Destination. I'll prob see the rest eventually on DVD....well I may see Saw and Halloween if my friend makes me go.

I gotta have me my slashers, so I'll be all over SORORITY ROW and THE STEPFATHER. Both look pretty good to me, actually. SHUTTER ISLAND for the Scorsese, FINAL DESTINATION for the 3-D, and SAW for pretty much everything. Still on the fence about JENJEN, but I'll probably check it out at some point. HALLOWEEN II? I practically feel like I'd be letting Zombie off the hook if I didn't watch it and post about it here...

I'll pass. It is weird how no one seems to understand what fans want, and when they do make a film fans want, they have no idea how to market it.
