Not worth the hassle for a credit change to me. Sounds like way more trouble than it's worth. I've watched my entire Blu and it works fine so I'll quit while I'm ahead.

I received a pre-paid envelope to send the old one back for a replacement but haven't bothered to do so yet. Doesn't seem so important to me anymore.

They used an old print from what looks like the mid 80s that didn't have Moustapha Akaad's production credit on it for whatever reason (even though he is credited on the packaging), people freaked out and claimed some weird conspiracy theory and made a stink out of nothing so they conceded and made a replacement disc.

and I am pretty sure this is why we didn't get Hallloween III in October.

Or maybe it's because III's 30th Anniversary is next year, silly!

On the note, I won't be sending out my disc for a replacement until we get the full facts on the specs and extras for the replacement disc. I know deep down that Terror Of The Aisles will be on the replacement disc, but I just gotta make sure first.

Thanks. That doesn't seem worth the trouble of a replacement, which can be a hassle to say the least.

I suspect they were either legally obligated to correct it or they didn't want to piss off the Akaads so they'd take their ball back and go home.

The reality is that if it was pretty much anyone else's name fucked up on the credits Universal wouldn't have given a rat's ass. They certainly wouldn't spend money to fix it. Goofed credits are often left untouched. And 99.99% of the fans don't give a shit if Akaad's name is there or not. So it's pretty clear why this got "corrected."

The way I look at it, this is the same family who told Don May Jr. to fuck off for not letting them get away with throwing out the existing negatives for Halloween. I wouldn't miss a thing if their names were wiped off every print for the entire Halloween franchise. Seems like that name credit is all they give a shit about.

Good god, the color timing is all fucked up on the original Halloween's Blu-ray. You don't see the Akaads demand Anchor Bay fix what's wrong with every frame of that landmark film. But their name is missing from a lesser sequel and suddenly we have to boycott it and demand replacements? Fuck that shit.

99.99% didn't give a shit? I'd say they certainly did since I saw more people complaining about it when it happened, then those that weren't.

What I find so ironic about this whole situation is there are folks out there who did complain, and yes, they are on this board and replying to this thread with the response of not wanting to bother sending their disc in to be replaced for fear of losing a special feature or really just not wanting to be bothered at all. I'm not naming names, but y'all know who you are.

It's not just here though, so I'm not like singling this board out, it's all over. Seemed like a ton of people wanted it fixed, it got fixed, but now they have to do some work and wait a bit to get a fixed disc and they can't be bothered. Tad ironic if ya ask me.

Personally, never had much of an issue with the change myself - didn't see the need to boycott the release or put the head of Universal on a pike for all to see - it was obviously not something they did intentionally, I can't see them being malicious about it, and of course when folks started throwing racism and what not into the mix, it had to be fixed. It sucks too because Universal is one of the better companies for the horror genre to be a part of and even with a little flub like this one, they shouldn't have been given all the crap they were considering. But who am I to judge?

It's not just that some of us don't want to bother with the replacement, some of us honestly really don't care one way or the other about a single credit which does appear on the back cover anyway. I really never cared if Universal fixed it to begin with, and I certainly wasn't bitching about it beforehand.

There's a difference between people being good natured and wanting to see things done right versus outrage at crimes against humanity. In general people would like to see name credits correct for any member of the cast/crew. The Akaads raised the most stink. If they hadn't then nobody really care. It's also easy to hate on a company like Universal (not without good reason). I'm not going to touch the race card on this one, but I'm sure it just boiled down to negligence on Universal's part.

Compare this to the Back to the Future debacle. Universal was negligent, slow to resolve some issues and ignored the rest. Then they went and made similar mistakes with BTTF on Blu-ray that they still haven't fixed! Yet they corrected the credits on b-movie faster than you can file legal proceeding.

While Universal has a better catalog than most companies they only do right by fans when they have a Homer Simpson moment (look it up, it's in the dictionary). Universal shouldn't have been given crap on this when there's so much fucked up shit they do need to replace like the Spartacus Blu-ray for example. But let's not focus solely on Universal. What about the Halloween franchise in general? How about the color timing on the original (already mentioned) or the Akaad's own refusal to let fan see any of the unused footage (which Carpenter approves of doing). How about a Producer's Cut release? I'm sure if you pushed any of these concerns to the Akaads you'd either be ignored or berated. Yet they expect us to mob Universal with pitchforks and torches because they names slipped between the cracks on one single release after being right for decades.

Now that this has been fixed for them, very quickly might I add, how about we ask the Akaads for them to fix some REAL problems with the franchise? And don't give me shit about fans should be happy with what we got. We paid for what we got, just like any other fan base. The Akaads asked us to boycott on their behalf. Now it's time they did something for our behalf besides taking our money. Fix what they should have fixed long before their names were blinked from the world for a measly few seconds.

I hope this controversy doesn't deter Universal from releasing Halloween III or other 80s horror flicks on blu-ray in the future.

I'm happy with my blu-ray, and I'm not going to bother with a replacement. Not worth it to me.

Chalk me up as another who doesn't care enough to bother exchanging. I know who's behind the franchise, and it's just a quick credit. If anything more significant was cut I would be swapping.

I feel the same way, mine's fine as is. Not only that but i feel that Universal did this on purpose to stir up controversy.
