Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
I didn't see a thread for this movie, so I decided to make one. The trailer made it look like a higher-budgeted SyFy movie, but it's better than that.
The movie revels in its silliness (Hansel is diabetic?) and the violence is unapologetically and hilariously R-rated. Famke Janssen and Gemma Arterton are still looking good, although Jeremy Renner phoned in his performance. He looked bored half the time. Thoughts? Rants? Nitpicks? |

I thought this was going to suck but my god this was a fun movie! I hope we get a sequel. It reminded me of Army Of Darkness in a lot of ways albeit gorier.

Can't see myself ever watching it. The CGI isn't ridiculous?

The movie is supposed to be ridiculous and tongue-in-cheek. For a $50M production, the CGI didn't look too bad. The motion-capture work on Derek Mears' troll character was actually well-done, considering the budget.

I enjoyed the film more than I expected. Very nicely paced. Saw it in 3D and Imax which probably helped. Well worth viewing if you are a member on this site.

Amazon already has pre-order links up for the Blu-ray 3D+Blu+DVD, Blu+DVD, and DVD releases already:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&hid...ref_=hm_3p_vi3 And all of them will feature both rated and unrated cuts. |
