Best Killer Scarecrow Movie

With Olive Film's release of NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW now available, what better time than to look back at all those killer crop-watcher movies. Which one reaps the greatest harvest?

Not sure if I'd call it a killer scarecrow movie, but I voted Jeepers Creepers.

Somewhat related, but not a movie, there's a terrific episode of the TV series Are You Afraid Of The Dark? titled "The Tale Of The Silent Servant" that is worth seeking out for fans of the evil scarecrow genre.

There's also the fairly entertaining straight-to-video slasher flick Slash, and the terrible Full Moon flick Dark Walker. Even though Dark Walker is a dud, it's still better than LionsGate's Dark Harvest series.

Ok, Jeepers Creepers and Children of the Corn 3 are not killer scarecrow movies. They both are great movies though.

The Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz was pretty killer!

I chose the first York Entertainment movie because the Scarecrow has some wicked ninja moves like the killer from Memorial Valley Massacre, and also it has Tiffany Shepis in it.

If I could pick a few of the actual scarecrow movies I'd say:

Dark Night of the Scarecrow - I love that it keeps you guessing till the very end on who the killer is. Very heart felt as well.

Night of the Scarecrow - A guilty pleasure I first saw on VHS. It's got decent gore and good effects. Re-watched it a year ago and was slightly disappointed, probably because I was expecting something greater than what I remembered. Still, I'll be picking up the blu. Decent scarecrow movies are too scarce to not have this in my collection.

Husk - Surprisingly very good for a modern DTV movie. Those who enjoy scarecrow movies should definitely check this one out if they haven't already.

On the other hand, Scarecrows (1988) had some decent looking effects and scarecrows but I didn't like it at all when I watched it. I may have to give it another chance.

i really had no idea there were so many of these. i agree that including the jeepers creepers films and CotC III is a bit of a stretch, but the rest...well...i'd like to know if anyone has actually seen all of those?

dark night of the scarecrow for me, btw...

I've actually seen all of those except for Dark Harvest (1992) and Psycho Scarecrow. I'm not proud...

Jeepers Creepers is the only one of these I've seen. I also had no idea there were so many - I would have guessed there were at most 4. There must be some sort of Rule 34 for horror movies - something like - "if you can imagine it, there are already at least twice as many horror movies in that vein as you'd expect"

Whilst Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a brilliant made for TV movie, it can't beat the gore and beautiful nighttime shot Scarecrows from 1988. I love this movie and place it in my top 10 of horror movies. It's a classic,
