Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5 news

Looks like the "original" Leatherface will be returning for the 5th installment. This might be good...

http://www.esplatter.com/news.htm

Gunnar Hansen, star of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (he played Leatherface), has finished a script for the fifth installment in that franchise, which will likely head straight to video from Trimark. Hansen will reprise the role of everyone's favorite chainsaw waving cannibal. ... Meanwhile, Michael Bay is racing ahead full throttle to produce a remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" for a new low-budget indie studio he's started. Tobe Hooper is writing the screenplay for the "reconceptualization." ...

So, this means TWO more TCM movies soon? I might actually be happy and jump for joy if it wasn't for the current state of horror.... and poor Tobe

Tobe Hopoer is finished.
Apart from TCM AND TCM2, and Poltergeist, I loved Lifeforce, liked The Funhouse, even liked Invaders From Mars. But I must admit that he has lost it, I'm afraid.

has anyone seen The Mangler? Or Crocodile????

Hadn't he done a "crocodile" movie before? I guess he didn't think he got it right the first time out. Anyway, I never saw much in ol' Tobe. Granted he did direct one of the greatest films of the genre, but what else is there to his name? Not one but two "croc" fims, a mediocre TV movie, a decent ghost story, one very disapointing sequel, Chainsaw Massacare in a funhouse (I did kinda like this one though ) one disapointing remake(reconceptualization?) and of course that movie about naked space vampires.

Can you blame the guy for going back to his finest hour?

I'm a survivor.
We can't forget Spontaneous Combustion and Night Terrors! It's a shame about Tobe.

Yep, it was called Eaten Alive, featuring none other than Robert Englund. Not a bad little flick, either. But I think the consensusis right; looks like Mr. Hooper has seen the best part of his career.
