I think it is from the movie Watchers with Cory Haim. I am 95% sure it is because I remember that gore scene. Hope this helps

This sounds right. Don't remember the movie much, but I remember the "excellent" book, and the creature would rip people's eyes out.

Oh, jeez.

If I'd known that I wouldn't have posted it. A friend IMed me and asked me to identify it. She publishes a horror fiction/fanzine thingy so I thought it was just for her personal amusement. I couldn't and thought of this forum. My apologies.
