Re-Animator Millennium Question

I was just at Borders and picked up Re-Animator millennium edition. First thing I noticed was I had a choice of keep case colors. They had two copies there, one in a green case and one in a black. The green was wrinkled to shit so I went with black.
Well, anyway after I got it home I noticed something missing,or at least I think somethings missing. When this release was announced wasn't it said that disc #2 would have an alternate version of the film,R rated or tv version, can't remember. Well,if this is true than either Elite changed their plans and I missed the news or they've pulled the same stunt they did with NOTLD and decided to exclude more extra features at the last minute without informing anyone.
With this gripe out of the way I must say that the disc is pretty damned great. A huge improvement over their last dvd release. It's nice to see Elite's finially back to releasing a product more comparible to what they used to release in the LD days.

I have the ME with the green keep case. If I'm not mistaken, disk 2 was not supposed to have the R rated version, but includes the scenes in the R rated version that was excluded in the unratd version. I can't remember anything that they were going to include the whole R rated feature.

I agree, it's a great disk. Haven't watched it yet, though. Am doing it this evening.

Would you even WATCH the R-Rated version?

But Beastus is right...what you have on the second disc is the scenes that were in the R-Rated cut. The old Elite laserdisc had those scenes too, and there was a chapter and time guide as to which scenes were removed, and where the R-Rated scenes fit in.

Another option might have been to use seamless branching to offer either cut of the film (like The Abyss), but even then I still don't think I'd watch the R-rated version...

I love this disc. I picked it up last night at Best Buy (green case) and I'm so happy with it. Re-Animator is my favorite horror film of all time so I was all-too-happy when Elite announced the ME of this classic. The big feature on the discs for me was the fact that the film and the deleted/extended scenes are all 16X9 now. Elite has done a great job.

I looked through my old posts on the forum search. I'm not crazy after all. Dave posted that disc 2 would include the tv version. I'm sure he wouldn't make up such a statement so he must have received the information from a reliable source,so it's pretty safe to say it was in the original plans. I own the previous ld and dvd so I already knew about the alternate footage being included but I was expecting an actual full lenth alternate version of the movie. But, me being dissapointed was my own fault since many sites, including elite's did have the features listed long before the release date without the tv version listed. Plus later in the above mentioned thread it was posted that the tv version wouldn't be included. My own neglect's at fault for not keeping up on the later updated info.

Gunner: Being that you are in Bar Harbor, you can go visit Vini personally to complain since you're almost neighbors.

I love this new DVD and have done a review at my site with a special hidden feature that leads you to a Barbara Crampton and the Head photo gallery!
