King Kong 1976...deleted scenes?

I have read online that out there, somewhere, exists a much longer cut of the '76 Kong movie. Anyone know where to snag a copy of it or if it even exists. I read it was almost 45 minutes of cut/deleted footage edited back in for the TV premiere. I also realize most people hate this film but I happen to love it....you can laugh/and-or/ insert jokes here..............................Larry

the TV version is longer. The French DVD has all the cut scenes.

I'm a fan of the '76 version as well. Does the French DVD have the English track and is it still available?

Out in bootleg circles, you can find extended versions with all the footage edited back in. I don't have this myself, but have seen it listed on pages.

Funny you should mention this but I just ordered the extended cut of King Kong from Asylum Of Oblivion along with these other movies:

Anthrophagus 2000
John Carpenter's Body Bags (Uncut Version)
Unman Wittering and Zigo
Stephen King's It (Extended version)
The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (220 minute version)
Superman 2: Restored International Cut
Mark Of The Devil II
Halloween II (Alternate version)
Home for the Holidays
Night of the Creeps (Short & Uncut TV Versions)

I pride myself on seeing just about every horror film ever made but I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen the '76 version of King Kong yet, the reviews arn't good but is it worse than Peter Jackson's version ? As much as I love Peter Jackson I thought his version sucked big.

Well, the original is the best, I didn't like Peter Jackson's version but it's about a billion times better than the 76 version. The only people who like it are people who love really bad movies.

Wow, it must be bad Can't wait to see it though.

Yes, the original is still an incredible movie and one of the best films of all time. Much like Nosferatu, it shows you that a great movie will entertain people for hundreds of years, regardless of how old it is. If only that Lost Spider Pit Sequence would surface one day

King Kong Lives is a lot of fun I thought. KK '76 was boring for the most part.

I don't remember much about King Kong '76, but I loved King Kong Lives when I was a kid. Maybe I'll check it out again soon.

I felt the exact same way about King Kong Lives so I rewatched it last year. Boy, it didn't hold up a bit. I ended up buying the disc to watch it and then selling it afterwards. Aw well, still have the memories...
