Tom Savini might actually be up for that, hasn't he voiced a few complaints about the blood's color?

I'm usually the first to say if it ain't broke don't fix it, but 3D just isn't that big of a deal. I doubt it'll be done at all. If anything it'll probably get the one theatrical run and then that'll be it we'll never ever see it again. That's pretty much how it works. There's nothing in danger. Night of the Living Dead got the 3D treatment from Razor3D, and yet the flat version remains more popular. Much more popular. I look more at is as saving one's breath.

I don't see anyone jumping into every Creature From the Black Lagoon thread demanding that the 3D version be released, as that was how it was originally shot. Or cursing about Dracula never being shown with green tinting anymore. Neither of these films are readily available as the filmmakers intended them to be seen.

Both of these films show up on the midnight movie circuit. I've seen both theatrically within the last 5 years:

Unless it turns out to be some travesty like the 30th Anniversary of NOTLD with new footage being shot and inserted into the original, I say BRING IT ON!!!. Too much Dawn is never enough Can't wait for the 5 disc special edition of this 3-D release

Any thoughts that cuts might be made to get an R-rating and a wider release in 3-D?

My first viewing of Dawn was the infamous R-Rated cut that was released to revival theaters on the back end of a double feature with Creepshow (in the days before VCRs were common). Don't ask me how it was different from the more commonly seen version, as this was easily 25 years ago. Before I discovered beer, so a lot of memories are long gone. I know the "exploding head" from the tenement scene was cut, as I'd seen photos of that in Fangoria and I wondered why it wasn't in the version I saw. After that it's all a blur.

Considering what goes on in R-rated movies nowadays though, I bet the original "unrated" cut could be given to the MPAA today and they'd just slap an R on it.

is planning to rerelease the 1979 zombie epic in true 3-D!
Bullshit! The only thing that's "true" 3-D is reality. Unless Rubenstein is planning to visit upon us a real life Zombie Apocalypse and barracading ticket holders inside a mall he can fuck off!

The more I think about this Rubinstein sales pitch, the more I'm against it and agree with the above statement. This is a lame gimmick that's only looking to further cash in and nothing more. We've had plenty of dvd releases. I would love to see the original version on the big screen. Frankly, I will never trust Tony Timpone's judgement on anything and further consider his endorsement a formal warning to avoid this.

It's my favorite flick, so I'm curious to see the finished project.

Count me in as well. They aren't fucking up the original in anyway, just adding another dimension!

Sounds awesome. I'm in. I've seen Romero's DOD in so many versions (including bootlegs) and it never fails to inspire and entertain me. I will see this, and I'm excited.

bloody-disgusting.com is reporting that Tony Todd is in talks to star in Dawn 2. I'd rather see Ken Foree myself.
