I think Repo! being in Shame is a major letdown. It was unique and assembled a fantastic storyline. Opera-ish, funny enough. But I guess people can't get past the singing.

I didn't play the Fame or Shame game, but all three of those that made the Hall of Fame just happen to be my favorite releases of the year.

Too bad The Midnight Meat Train made it to the Hall of Shame. I thought it was pretty decent, and certainly didn't deserve the shitty release it got from Lions Gate.

Yeah, Midnight Meat Train is a harsh pick for Shame, but that's the nature of the thread, I suppose. They can't all be Famers.
I eventually had to drop ouit because I hadn't seen enough of the picks, but it's a fun idea. I like the 24 hour wait. |

Seems like we prefer to kill than to save. Horror fans we are.

...and rightfully so, what a terrible film. It does work as an unintentional comedy though.

Bug is outstanding but I couldn't vote against my own pick. There's nothing funny about it but I guess there's always people who have to laugh at anything abnormal.

Yea I liked Bug too - I can see why it could be seen as funny if your someone that just cant get into that kind of movie- but I liked it and found it effective. I was surprised how fast this fell to the hall of shame too- perhaps because this movie is borderline even being horror and thus was shunned in favor of the other good flicks on the list considered more in the horror vein.

^ I personally feel it's far more horrific than anything else on the list. It's horror through and through, just more of the psychological variety.

I'm sure it was an effective stage play, but it just didn't work as a movie--a lot of it just came off as funny, especially toward the film's end. Every few years there's a movie that I strongly dislike that manages to develop some kind of following. BUG is definitely one of those for me.

Can't agree with Bug going into the Hall of Shame. I though it was Freidkin's best film since The Exorcist and was simply outstanding, especially from a psychological point of view. It was suspenseful, intelligent and well acted. There are many others that should go to the Hall of Shame, but Bug isn't one of them.
