What happened to Friday the 13th 4-8 on Blu-Ray? - Page 3

i dunno how to respond to this. the fact that they won't be coming out makes me wanna cut my losses and pick them up. but the fact that paramount would do something shitty like release only the 1st three as blu rays makes me want to avoid giving them any of my money.

Fuck it then! I gave up double-dipping on DVDs years ago when I switched to Blu-ray. Looks like I'll be sticking with my original DVD box set for the time being. They may not be the best releases but I can't justify buying DVDs anymore, unless it's for a title that I really, really want that I don't already own ... and, of course, isn't on Blu-ray.

I don't know. Honestly, The Final Chapter looks great on DVD. Yeah, a blu-ray would look nicer, but it's quite a bit better than the old DVD, and the extras are fantastic to boot. Heck, just read Rhetts excellent review. Plus, it can be had pretty cheap. I think I paid seven bucks for it off of Amazon.

Not really much of a surprise, as they were never even announced beyond internet rumors. Now I don't feel bad having splurged on the 3 Blu-rays and the Deluxe Edition DVD's of the others.

Yeah, I understand but I just don't see the point. No matter how good a DVD looks, it looks like shit now, to me anyway, after going Blu. Maybe if the box set was non-anamorphic, I would go in for them (or if I got them for free) but even the smallest amount of money is too much for a DVD "upgrade" in these post-Blu days.

The Australian dvd release of Part 3 has special features too. I think it's just the US version that doesn't.

Yea I might pick up The Final Chapter if its cheap - to me 1-4 were always the "main" movies from the beginning to what could have been the end so I like to watch those 4 together. Everything after that is just extra- 5 is good and 6 is just great fun while 7 is good too- after that suckville.

I'm not worried. Just because there are no plans right now (to release 4-8 on BD) doesn't mean that we'll never get them. We'll get them someday. Paramount will eventually cave.

By the way, wasn't Anchor Bay supposed to release Halloween 4 and 5 on BD this year?

I don't know, but I think they should try to get the rights to parts 2, 3 and 6 so they can release a decent blu box set. Plus weren't they meant to be getting the rights to part 6 and releasing the producers cut?

Given that the Weinsteins have 6, I highly doubt AB would be able to get that. They've had a pretty good working relationship with Universal, though, so I could see them possibly being able to get 2 and 3. At least that would be a decent box of 1-5.

Well that's better than no box set. It's sad but I can't bring myself to buy a set with missing entries like their "mask set". I like having my movies run in order.

Stopping at #4 would still be half assing it but it looks like theyre not even bothering to half ass it any more. Theyre down to quarter assing it.
