hey Just a few words from the designer, first i wanted to say thanks for the compliments, always good to hear, it was definitely a labour of love and allot more went into it than you'd ever get from an agency! (money = hours = effort!) i wasn't working to that model!
Secondly im going round trying to get my site linked back to the artwork, so if you like this please check out my other stuff on thedudedesigns.blogspot.com Cheers |

I love the poster for The Innkeepers. It reminds me of the films from the 1970's..the type that my brother and I routinely sought out during Saturday matinees. I love haunted house flicks.

BLOODY DISGUSTING: With the premiere of Ti West's ghostly The Innkeepers happening this weekend at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, Bloody Disgusting has scored (5) of the absolutely incredible limited edition one sheets signed by West and stars Sara Paxton and Pat Healy!! In order to enter, all you have to do is put INNKEEPERS in the subject line and then send your FULL NAME, FULL ADDRESS and the title of your favorite Ti West film to submit@bloody-disgusting.com. Winners will be chosen at random this weekend. Winner must live in the U.S. "After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees --Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy)—are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn’s final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage “ghost hunters” begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel’s long unexplained history." |

The trailer looks promising - good jump scares. I enjoyed House of the Devil, but partly because I liked what Ti West was trying to do - his love of the genre and one of its golden ages is obvious. HotD isn't perfect. The script could have used some tidying up in the dialogue department, and there are issues with pacing, but it did peak my interest.

Do you guys actually like that kind of shit? I'll see this movie, 'cause I liked House of the Devil so much, but "jump scares" are just cheap and manipulative in my book.

This was supposed to air on HDNet this week, but it looks like it was pulled from their schedule.

This was a fun movie. As with all his efforts, not remarkable, but worth a viewing.

A good jump scare to my is far more than a sudden appearance of something scary accompanied by a loud noise. It is has a lot to do with timing and working the audience up to the point of the jump scare - and there isn't a set in stone formula. Some jump scares work because they are unexpected, some work because they are expected (i.e. the audience is already nervous). And some jump scares simply don't work. That said, however virtuoso the skill of creating a good jump scare, you may be right that it is cheap. That said, I love slasher movies, and even the most enjoyable of those are not all artistic (big surprise!). It's the rollercoaster ride I'm there for.
