He was in so many great Movies and always mean and menacing, I was only thinking about the great character Actors a few weeks ago and thinking about the one's who were still with us, Thought about both R.G. and Ernie Borgnine..So sad we lost both of them in recent weeks...both at the grand age of 95 too.
God bless them. |

I recall reading somewhere back in 2001/2002 that when R.G. retired from acting, he took his wife travelling around the world. It looks like she died back in late-2003 though. He did apparently have 4 children by his first wife though.

thats a shame. again. seems like so many great actors are reaching their end. 95 really is a great run, though. just saw him in Evilspeak a few months ago. He was really great. His scenes were always highlights of the films he was in (like Children of the Corn).

Excellent actor. So many memorable performances. I thought he was best as the sheriff in Race With the Devil. R.I.P.

I didn't recognize him by his name but now that I googled him I recall this actor. I'm surprised he was still alive. Guess he always had that "old man" look, no? And yeah, he was a classic. Have seen him in many movies.
Rest in peace, R.G. Armstrong.
