Just watched this last night and I was very disapointed. They didn't recapture the feel of the first film and the way it was filmed looked cheap in my opinion. The pacing was all over the place aswell. It seems as though Adam Harris forgot to make his characters interesting like in the first one. Its a shame it wasn't very good cause I loved the original. On a plus side Danielle Harris was superb as Marybeth, smooth transition there.

i recall not liking the first one, because i was disappointed by how tongue in cheek it was. i haven't seen it since. however, i found myself enjoying this one a lot more, because i knew what type of movie to expect. now i want to watch the first one again. maybe if i see the blu for cheap, i'll pick it up for all the supplements.
in retrospect i guess those saying danielle harris' character was a little whiny are right. but while watching the film, i wasn't annoyed by her at all. i love that she's getting so much work in the horror genre. DAMN, kane hodder has a big neck! anybody else notice that the tv that tony todd turns off when danielle walks into his shop has the surviving character of Frozen saying "I am NEVER going skiing again!" i love touches like that. his films may not be perfect, but i like adam green's sensibilities a lot. i hope he keeps making movies. |

oh yeah, and any film that uses Ministry's Just One Fix over the main credits is ok in my book.

I recently bought the Blu-ray (Best Buy had it for $9.99) and it looks like they may have corrected the disc. The original had an encoding flaw where the picture had digital pixelation about 3½ minutes into the film.
It plays smoothly on my copy of the disc, no pixelation. My disc ID is also different from the one in the DVDProfiler database...which makes me almost sure it's a corrected disc. The authored date of the disc is 1/20/2011, which was right before the release date, but probably after advance reviews of the disc went out.If there's anybody who purchased the Blu-ray when it first came out...can you check and see what the authored date of your disc is? A free program like VSO Inspector can easily give you the disc specs.

You have the later corrected disc then, which fixed the authoring flaw.

I did buy day this on release day, but my dvd-drive just stopped acknowledging any and all Blu-rays, so no dice on looking it up for you here, at least until I get a new drive, which won't be soon. I know it is the first disc ID in dvdprofiler, as I was the one who submitted it back when my shit worked. |
