Warner just doesn't seem interested in this series. It's as though we're being punished for not loving the remake. I think that if New Line was still a standalone company (and profitable), we would get a decent box set. As I've said before, the Never Sleep Again documentary trumps anything that could be released as an extra other than deleted scenes. The films just need decent transfers.

It looks like it was pulled from Amazon. Anyone know what's going on?

After the Halloween color timing fiasco you'd think that the studios would consult answer prints or the filmmakers before they sign off on transfers of well known films. Yet we see this kind of stuff over and over again. Day for night shots are printed at natural brightness and color balances are incorrectly normalized. Will it ever end?
It's completely apparent that these films are pure product to the studios that release them. |

10/2 is the correct release date but it will be a Best Buy exclusive.

$29.99 is the most I'll pay for this set.

I'm happy with the UK set, in my opinion the films looked good. Not transformers sharp but still better than I expected. And the color timing issues, I wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been pointed out here and elsewhere, I just watched and listened and was a happy camper;-)
yes part three WAS dark but I had no trouble making out the background etc.......

This may sound petty, but I refuse to buy any Warner Bros. DVDs or Blu Rays until they finally give up Ken Russell's "The Devils" to a more competent company.
These bare bones releases of the Elm Street films are just another nail in their coffin. Fuck 'em.

I don't think it's petty. I love it when people have a grudge against companies. I would never buy a Toyota or a Ford because their commercials are so horrid that they drive me into a blinding rage. Also, despite being a former season ticket holder, I'll never ever watch an NFL game again since awarding a dog killer with the "Comeback Player of the Year" award. Actually, the NFL is now full of criminals that I don't care to spend my time watching. Getting back on topic though, I actually think Warner has been one of the better companies when it comes to blu-rays. I've been down on Paramount and Universal for years, but I'm not at the boycott stage yet. Did you try expressing your displeasure with Warner Bros Shlockjock81?

Bare bones? Not quite. These discs carry over the extras from the NOES box set. |

I thought the bonus DVD which is available in the UK set didn't carry over to the Region 1 version?

The discs with the movies has extras related to the movies (commentaries, behind the scenes, trailers, etc...). The bonus disc with the Freddy's Nightmare episode and few other things, was something entirely different.

They gave them a beta-cam print of the CUT UK version of the film. When I mean 'give the film to', I mean give up the rights to it so the film can finally receive a REMASTERED and UNCUT version of the film (as WB clearly has no interest in doing this.)
Criterion's been trying for years and WB won't budge, likely because of some 40 year old grudge they've had against Ken Russell.
